This reminds me of the DIY for washing your hands.

Got mine in on Monday. Took literally 5 minutes. In order to try and prevent the marring of the black anodized coating to hopefully reduce the rusting of the screws, i used a phillips drill bit and socket wrench. Went in like butter and all is good. We'll see come winter time, even though we don't get much snow around here. Definitely completes the look of the pedal set.

I order it on Friday and got my pedal on today. After a quick 5 minutes installation, I feel that there is space between the pedal and the stock plastic. I have already screw the pedal as hard as possible and I don't feel any space with my hand. However when I step on pedal, I hear and feel the pedal touching/pushing towards the stock plastic. Is it normal? By the way, the pedal looks great with the rest of the SI pedals.

Thats pretty y. Dont they sell any dead pedals that are a complete replacement for the old unit.
It feels cheap to drill a pedal over the stock one just for looks.

Can you use some sort of adhesive instead of screwing four holes into the existing dead pedal? What if you need to take it off for some reason? Aren't you stuck with four holes?

I have yet to 'install' this piece and I was thinking of using an epoxy with heat because dead pedal 'covers' never last long IMO.

I was thinking the same thing about attaching without screws. Hmm...

That's what I thought would happen as it did with my last car. People went above and beyond over there using skateboard grip tape and clearcoat to prevent this....crazy IMO for a dead pedal.

thank you, ordered one last week, and just received it in the mail. Installed it a few hours ago, and now it works like a charm. Thanks for the nice write up.

Thanks for the how-to. I don't think I could have done it otherwise. A+!
