I keep reading about people drilling them out and everyone saying they are worried. If your worried do what I did....just use a new and sharp exacto knife/box cutter, and jab it in around the tabs you would need to drill. It's alot more precise and easy to handle. No need to worry about over drilling.

I ripped my doors apart today........I think there were more than 17 screws though (2 were hidden under the large foam piece). I might make my own shift boot with a bit of the leftover suede. My suede came to $13.49 for a yard..........and I have more than enough left to do another car.

^ I'm doing mine black as a nice contrast to the ivory interior. ^
Here's a quick photochop to show what it's going to look like: ![]() ![]() By the way, how much fabric is everybody using for this? Because I found this link: http://www.hancockfabrics.com/jump-1...UCT/6599.shtml That's the manufacturer of Buttersuede, and it only costs $6 a yard! And only $4 to ship! The bolt is 60" wide, I would think that you would only need 1.25 yards, since it is wider than the panels are long and each panel is less than a foot tall . . . I saw somewhere that the person had spent $30 shipped for his fabric. I was just wondering if I was missing something. |

I hear you . . . I thought about it being too stark. But then again, almost all the people in this thread did one that wasn't in their interior, red on a red car, blue on a blue car, etc. They did something to tie the exterior of the car to the interior. But doing white on my TW coupe would only invite my car doors to look naaasty dirty. I can't see myself keeping them clean.
Black, however, is already in the interior. Black makes up a lot of the plastic accents in the interior. Up the center console, the steering column and wheel. I demoed it in different browns, and it just didn't POP enough. Anyway, it's only ten bucks to get the fabric here to look at it. |
