1 door down

Hey, thanks for the awesome DIY. I've got one door down and made a slight booboo which kinda sucks but otherwise not too bad. I'm gonna change the material cuz I don't think I like it but here what I have.

This is the finished product on my first door, might change to blue suede, I want a blue theme inside the car

This is where I messed up, somehow I pushed through the panel slightly and now we've got this little bump

I also noticed the door handle assembly doesn't quite sit flush with the arm runner, might tinker with this a little.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of my little bump, please enlighten me. How much does a new door panel cost?

Ok my stuff just come unstuck, its all bumpy now, i'm pissed. I'm gonna take it all out and rip it off and sand out the old **** and re-do this...hopefully it will work. I'm guessing its because I didn't let it dry inside enough....will report back.

wonder if it would be possible to make a hard CF insert much like CF trim pieces that could be placed where the fabric is instead.

it is i looked into it and you have to do all the regular stuff for cfing then put it in like a vaccume sealed bag so its flat with no bubbles then wetsand it to get the desired glossy look.

dude that looks really good. matches so well.
do you mind telling me what you did and what fabric you used.

did you just press it close to get the imprint from the stock fabric.
or is the fabric already like that?

I just got the material at Hobby Lobby, The material did not have a name, just throw into a bunch of other different fabrics. only cost me $3.50 for both doors.
The 3M adhesive cost me $13 though.

Followed the same steps as the DIY with only a few other changes. (meant to make a diy but forgot the camera)

Going down to a kentucky meet this saturday actually and installing the same fabric only in white on my buddies car.

Oh and thanks for everyone that likes it.

Another thing you can do with the doors is to add 1/4" foam underneath the material and stitch it to add a "pincushion" effect, similar to the CSX. The CSX uses equally-spaced stitching, but I decided to mix it up a bit and go with a "logarithmic" effect.

How do you think "Diamond" stitching would look?

Might not look too bad... I think if you want a more "apparent" stitch, it would be best to start with a material that isn't too plush (like mine). I did a straight stitch (doubled) and even that got a bit lost in the fibers of the material.
