when you take off the whole door you'll see the parts that need to be drilled.
I'll try and explain it in words.

surrounding the insert (part you wanna change) there are like plastic pegs that have been put through holes connected to the door panel and then they are fused together. You can drill through the fused part and just pop them apart. I used a dremel to shave off the part was melted above the hole and then popped them out.

I tried to recreate this fusion with hot glue.... horrible idea.
If I were you, or anyone who is going to try this again, follow someone elses advice (forgot who said it) but go to lowes and get the same screws that hold the rest of the insert in. Even though the plastic is melted, the screw will go right through.

It would look good, but you'd regret it. Carbon fiber in raw form is quite difficult to deal with. It is hard to keep the weave straight, and you'll also end up getting awesome carbon splinters under your skin. They're tons of fun!
In short, don't even consider it.

^ Honestly, I don't know what kind of material it is. It's a bit like synthetic suede... I searched over half a dozen stores before I found a good material. The good thing is that it's an EXACT match to the Si logos.

Brendan, you had previously asked if I could get any of the red material right? I will be heading back to Hamilton (maybe this weekend) to find a match to the black "suede" material on the seats, so if you want, I can pick up some of the red that I used. 2 sq. yd. did the trick and came to around $40. Let me know as soon as you can, and I'll stop back in at that store.
