Just tap into the positive headlight wire under the dash. pretty straight forward. If you need the wire color lemme know, ill find it. I did a similar mod like this one last night. Except on the change pocket i didnt put the light there, i put it in the pocket in front of the shifter. After doing it, im also thinkin of puttin 1 on the false bottom above the pocket below the radio (if that makes sense)

I got the same ones in the original post from Pep Boys, but in blue. I tried them out in the dark before going through the hassle and it was more of a focused light coming from the LED rather than a glow, more like a laser pointer, just with a mild glow around the spot. Definately not getting installed.

it might be direct cause if i rember accoriding to the DIY u have to scuff the lens. on that subject exactly how much or how hard do i got to sand the end and what grit so that i get the glow effect but not screw up the bulbs.

Radioshack LED's are weak, and only a few of them are 12v. Just go to the autoparts store. Advance has a 4 pack of them in white, blue, red and I think amber for $8.88. It's a simple LED with a pos and neg coming out of it. 12v, so no resistors or anything else needed. I like to hook mine up to a switch though. I think I'll mount the switches inside the center console next to the cig lighter. I'm about to run out and get some more LED's. I did this in my element already. Looks great. Otherwise just order some specific LED's online. Look for ones with wide angle.

Nice! I want it too.
But I only need under dash only, not cup-holder. So I don't want to tap into yellow/black there. Any other places to tap into? I see you also touch the fuse box. what slot did you use?
Thanks!

what i did was tap the headlight fuse using a fuse tap. it should (need to double check) be #14 in the panel by your left knee on the driver side. that way the lights only turn on when the headlights or parking lights are on.

i did this too. its not hard to do. takes maybe 3 hrs and thats taking your time and making all the wiring underneathe nice and tucked away. i used blue led's from pep boys. 4 in the cup holder (1 in each corner), 1 in the change pocket, and then i ran wires up to the pocket right above the shifter. to sand the lights, use a dremel or wire brush and just rough up the surface and shave then down just a bit and it will spread the light out alot. looks real nice

1. Remove the cover under the drivers side and passenger side dash. A quick yank and they come free. Most of the clips are good quality plastic (Heavy Duty) so they shouldn't break.
2. Drill holes as needed. I have three on each panel.

3. Insert the LED holder into the holes.
4. Scuff the LEDs and dremel them down to create a less focused light.

5. Route the wires together, this will help assembly out at the car. I also tested them prior to installation.

6. Go back to the car and lay the covers on the floor. You can tie them together now. Route the wires by the transmission tunnel, behind the radio etc.

7. Merge the wires and insert into the wiretaps. Connect to a power and ground. I tapped into the fuse box.

8. Turn the key on in the ignition and viola!

The LEDs are visible in the pic, it looks really nice at nice. Very subtle. I will make some adjustments tonight to adjust some of the lighting and take more pics.
where did u splice the wires to??
