So you have 35% and cops haven’t given you any trouble yet? I also live in Cali and I’m planning on getting some 35% tint myself but am very iffy about it just because they’re illegal. Do you ever try and hide it from the cops when they’re passing through? Or do they just not bother you at all coz of the fact that they’re still very light?

My saying is cops around windows down. From my experiance however it seems like getting a ticket for window tint here is kind of like an add on for doing somthing else. I have never been pulled over for just window tint.

Instead of using the thinner you could've used, 000 or 0000 grit steel wool. Way less of a mess and less time to clean up. I've done it to my car and it dosent leave any scratches.

lol wrong to that. You can check CHP.gov or whatever it is.. but legally in california you are only allowed to have windows behind the driver tinted, as well as a 4" strip at the top of the windshield. Cops usually will not pull you over but the CHP will. Ive been pulled over twice for having 35% on front windows and my license has been suspended for over a month because they didnt mail me the stuff for my fixit, and they said i didnt mail back to them, which i couldnt because i never got anything.. so anyways careful when you tint.

well when they give you the ticket they have court days written on the bottom so you can go to court for it.

the best way to get the tint and glue off ( old tinters trick ) mix up a spray botlle with soapy water ( use baby shampoo for best results ) spary down windows very thouroly inside and out. Then place black trash bags overthe outsides of the windows ( they will stick because you windows are wet ) let sit out int the sun for about 45 minutes to an hour. Leave bags in place on the outside and start to peel the tint from the inside. 8 times out of 10 the tint will leave very little glue behind. Best removal for the glue is soapy water and a flat razor blade. The soapy water is best being that it is not harmful to any interior panels in your vehicle. For pesky glue residue, I find that a 3m scothbrite pad used for cleaning dishes works well.

I very much agree with just soap and water. I've had to remove the tint that the previous owner put on my 99 civic and several other cars from the shop I worked at. Granted, I took the windows out...but soapy water and a plastic blade took me about 5-10min per window.

u didnt have to do that! you just cut out black trash bags spray them with soapy water, put them on the window in the sun let the bags stick to the tint then u just pull off.

theres a number on the upper section of the windshield as-1 i believe. most states dont allow you to put anything below that level

Removed my tint today, it was easy as pie !
All I used was a 2" and 4" Razor Blades with Handles, Paper towels, and Zep Professional Strength Glass Cleaner (Contains Alcohol and Ammonia) - You can find this at The Home Depot.

Finished 2 windows in 30minutes, nothing to it.

What about rear tint? Don't the rear defoggers pose a challenge? I only ask because I want to go darker.
