sagging shift boot quick fix

I came up with a simple quick fix for the sagging shift boot people are having with after market knobs. I went to home depot and bought a pack of rubber grommets (found them in the plumbing section). All you need to do is remove the knob and shift boot, place the rubber grommet on the lever (make sure you get the appropriate diameter to make a snug fit on it) reinstall the shift boot and screw the knob back on....

Nice fix. Most people just zip-tie that **** but I think your method is cleaner and better

all i did was place a rubber grommet O ring type thing on the lever so that when you reinstall the shifter boot and knob it keeps the boot pressed tight up against the knob so it doesn't sag and move around.

and yes it is a skunk2 knob

Not really sure where else you could find one. Maybe check out the internet the rubber grommet i used was originally intended for use as a seal in a faucet. But anything similar would work as long as if has the right diameter hole in it.

Sorry dude.. one more question, what dimensions is the knob that you bought? I like your set up and am hoping to replicate it. Not sure if the length of the knob matters for this app but just in case, I like how it looks anyway.

i just used electrical tape and wrapped it up a bit. works like a charm. easier than having to go out to buy a grommet.

Cool idea man.

I just got my new shift knob in the mail today, and I was wondering what to do about the boot. It's a JDM knock-off. Bought it on ebay for about $15.00 shipped.

I'll be off to the Depot after the holidays!

The silver part is OEM on the non-Si's; in that pic he's not using the nut, its just screwed down all the way.
