i had this setup for about a year with 0 issues. as long as the power wire on the detector has a fuse everything should be a-ok (which the v1 does have).
soooo incorporating a 2 amp fuse in slot 8 to wire a radar detector wouldn't void my car's entire electrical system? lol

nope. im using a 14-band Cobra radar detector. No fuse incorporated with the power wire.

im assuming theres almost negligible resistance in the wire cuz its only wiring up a radar detector so im using a 2 amp fuse.

i see. i really doubt that wiring your detector to the fuse box would cause any kind of issues with the warranty. i'm not sure how you'd stick a fuse in spot #8 AND run a wiring to it though.

fuse tap, with an end connector for power on hot side of the fuse and ground it similarly to how you did.
