Hi guys, first time poster here. Wanted to see if anyone else had more information on the above problem. I just installed my Weapon-R Secret Weapon intake on my Si, and am noticing exactly what was posted above. Installation went smooth, had a mechanic buddy helping me out the entire time. We forgot to reset the battery before doing the install, but I have since then - to let the computer adjust to the new intake settings and what not. I was hoping that the idling problem would have stopped by now, as I have driven it around for a solid 45min since installation. Does anyone know how long it takes for the computer to adjust? Basically, it drops down to just below 500rpm when sitting at a red light or just starting it up....and then jumps to around 1700rpm and then back down. It seems pretty random when it will start to do this, but it will repeat the process about 5 times before sitting at the appropriate 700rpm. Thanks in advance for any info, I can't seem to find any information about this and I'm concerned about my car! |

May I add to this post?
When I first bought my car (Civic Si 2006) I purchased an Injen CAI intake. I also have a ScanGuageII (It tells me the air intake temperatures, among other things). Recently I have gone back to the stock intake and here's what I've noticed.... The stock intake runs about 25 degrees hotter than the outside temp displayed on the dashboard. The Injen CAI ran 15 degree hotter than the outside temp displayed on the dashboard. (My CAI was also wrapped with heat resistant/reflecting material) I also ran my Civic Si with the stock air cleaner but without the added hoses before the air filter box. Then the air intake temp was always around 120-130 degrees on a 60-70 degree day (not good!). Anyways, back to my original point. The stock Intake and the Injen both do their part in sucking in cooler air. Unfortunately the stock air intake has a lot more bends and piping for the air to go through. And unfortunately the Injen CAI is a pain in the arse to install and also to change the air filter. I'm back on the original intake and I am loving it. I hope this helps someone somewhere ![]() -J |

I've just installed a AEM CAI and I have no problems YET! Just remember to reset your ECU before you decide to just go out and start racing.
I would recommend removing the bumper so that when you go to take the resonator out it's a whole lot easier. Cleaning your filter won't be a problem either cause you have access througth the wheel well. |

I believe the 189hp is at the wheels. The 197hp you would be reffering to is brake horsepower which is the power the engine makes before losing some through trasmission, etc. But what do i know...I've never modded anything before... |

Does anyone know which intake gives the most gains and/or is the most quiet? I'm sure its been asked before but I couldn't find it through searching. I was thinking Comptech or Mugen but idk what the hell is going on with Comptech, and Mugen is too expensive. So aside from those two intakes which would I be looking for? If anything I won't be modding til at least next summer so maybe Comptech will release the icebox by then. As far as performance upgrades the only thing I was planning to do within the near future (a couple of years) would be intake/exhaust as long as they arent too loud or ricey. Mostly because I'm in high school and I don't have much money...

Unfortunately doing an intake and an after market exhaust is going to make your car sound ricey. The intake will make the engine louder, and combined with the exhaust will make the exhaust louder. I currently like how my SI sounds AS-IS its not too ricey and the motor is loud enough. I have been contemplating a K&N SRI but I am wary of an increase in engine compartment noise. I had an 05 Civic EX with a K&N SRI which wasn't too bad, I added a Magnaflow Catback and it was unbearable.

wow....and thats probably the quietest combination you can have.....you must hate noise I had a Skunk2 with Injen CAI and it was too loud for me but the Magnaflow made it close to stock in terms of loudness but deeper |

forget the sri...from experience
well, since opinions are like aholes, everyone has one, i'll give you mine
i had an aem sri for almost 3 months. it wasn't that bad until summer hit. i would hit the gas to leave a red light and almost get hit in the ass cuz my car would bog for almost 3 seconds. i say bog...know the sound of a record being slowed down to stop? that's about it...then, just when you're cussing and bashing your steering wheel...the record starts up and returns to normal rpms...talk about piss ya off. i didn't enjoy driving my car at all. i ditched that piece of garbage and picked up a injen cai. i have had no problems out of it, and love the sound of it, especially at vtec engage. the heat bog may not be as bad up north, but down here in the sticky muggy south, it's horrible! save your money and time and go cai if you feel like you have to mod. hope this helps!

Well, we got the Fuijita SRI and I love it. I do notice a power loss when it gets REALLY hot and here in TX it gets hella hot. We are moving to Laredo, TX where it's even hotter so we'll see how it does then. I like the sound when you get on it, sounds nice!!
