Optimal position of filter for Injen CAI
After I installed my Injen CAI I noticed the air filter was not level to the ground. As in, I mounted the intake how I wanted it with proper clearances and no contact with anything, tightened it up and then noticed the front end of the air filter (the nose) was higher then the back end where it's connected to the intake. So it's angled up a little bit, enough to be clearly noticable. I'm only asking because it's been over a week yet it's still kind of bothering me. I'm wondering if it affects performance because when you're driving normally the airflow into the filter is parallel to the ground, and if the filter isn't parallel I would think it won't flow as well. There will be certain areas of the filter that won't receive any air. This isn't a huge issue but after paying $250 for the intake I want all the gains I'm entitled to :-D Anyways, did anyone else notice this on their CAI's?

air is everywhere. the main difference is the it sucking up cooler air from the bottom of the car instead of the air box that sits in the engine bay. u are fine w the installation as long as everything is tightly secured and that there isnt any rubbin

Since it is an "oiled" filter element I would gees that the angle helps water run off the filter. Two days after I installed mine, it rainned for two days straight and the only part of the filter that was a little wet was the back part of the filter near the pipe.
So for me, angle = good! |
