Skunk2 or Voodoo
I am going to get the comptech ss for my LX and now the only dilema I have is which shift knob to get. I like the Skunk2 because it is heavy, and I like the Voodoo because it sits real low. So the question is, which one makes shifting feel smoother?

Heavy knobs make the apparent shifting smoother. I experience none of the supposed notchiness that people are saying with 2nd gear in my FG2. Although, I don't think I really felt it with my stock one, either...but, it DID smoothen out the shifts. 3-4 is especially gratifying.
The Skunk2 sits pretty low too, from what I've seen/heard. Personally, if you want both, get on over to TWMPerformance.com. They have countersunk and heavy knobs. They're quite a bit more expensive though...pretty much like getting both shiftknobs for the price of one. It's up to you. I definitely thought it was worth it. Also, get something you're comfortable gripping. I have the Type-R style knob (similar in shape to the stock Si's) because I would feel more comfortable gripping that than a ball knob. And keep something in your car to keep your shifter relatively touchable. ![]()

I have the Skunk2 shifter and the major complaint I have with it is it sits way too low if you don't use the nut that is provided with it.
I mean, it is a great shift knob but when it's sitting near the bottom, it sucks. The shift boot opening that the stock shifter clings onto doesn't have enough room for the bottom of the shift knob to squeeze through and screw in... basically that was the problem I ran into when I tried taking off the shift boot and putting the nut on first then putting the shift knob over it so it doesn't "fall down." e.g. the shift boot is resting on the nut. It would be a perfect shift knob if you can get it to sit high but that would probably involve getting a new shift boot or something.

i went with the voodoo knob. it dosen't sit too low and it does make my shifting a whole lot smoother. my only advice would be to not go with the polished black, i have a little scratch on it and its driving me crazy
they made a SS for the lx?? where did you get it from? |

I am 100% satisfied with my voodoo. I got the spun aluminum and it matches the silver trim. I used the shift knob without my comptech ss for a couple days cuz it came first. It made a big difference over stock. The one think i really liked about it was it was threaded specifically for acura/honda, so you don't have to deal with any set screw bs.
I cant speak for the skunk2 cuz i have never used one, but i highly recommend the voodoo shift knob. ![]() |

i chose to go w/ the skunk2 shift knob, ordered it on sunday and it should be coming sometime within this week. My only concern will be how hot an all stainless steel knob will get considering it's gets up to 100 degrees here in the Inland Empire. but check out what ricks2k.com has: ![]() a leather shift knob condom . hopefully it can do its job against the weather here in the IE. |

i have a momo shift knob (sphere alluminum) and a momo boot (performance) and they are freakin sick together... the knob height is shorter by like an inch compared to stock .. www.momousa.com the knob screws right in the boot for that clean look... u should look into momo... although they are pretty pricey still worth the money |

My bro called me and said my Skunk2 knob came in today. I came home on my lunch break and installed it. It took my longer to find an adjustable wrench in my house than to actually install it. Installation took all of 2 minutes. I got the 10th anniversary 6 speed knob and it feels very smooth to the touch. My shifting is so smooth now also. No notchiness in any gears.
I felt it a little before with the stock knob (not like some people who say theirs grinds). It's all about not forcing it into gear, I just barely hold the knob and "guide" it into gear. Anyways, it's so smooth now, I love it. Main reason I didn't get the voodoo2 is because it's about half the weight, so you would probly feel the notchiness a little more and the ball seems a little bigger in diameter than the skunk2. I wanted a knob that was smaller around than the stock knob. The skunk2 fits real well in my hand. It would be nice if it were countersunk and lower like the voodoo2, because the skunk2 seems about as high as the stock knob, but smaller. It's all good though because I hold the knob towards the bottom anyways. Overall, I would really recommend the Skunk2. I have not used the Voodoo2 so I can't say anything about it. |

Decided to go with the voodoo knob. Got it, installed it, and love it. Only thing is...I need to use my brain and try to find a way to make the knob and the shift boots plastic ring connect. They are just touching because the shift boot is being held up by the kink in the shift pole. Also, it was 100 degrees the other day and I could have fried an egg on the knob, and it under my hat (out of the sun) all day. Cools down pretty quickly though. Anybody have any ideas on how to attach the metal shift knob to the plastic ring on the boot?

Super glue? :P
Most people who are using countersunk knobs are just taking out the trim ring. The trim ring I got with my faux Type-R boot was big enough to fit through the entire shaft with no stoppage. So, mine is still on, and is only being held up by a few zip tied I affixed to the shaft itself. I still have to fix it though...the ring is permenantly diagonal, since my knob sits waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay low. The endof my knob has no space between it and the flat stoppers. :)

yeah, I just got my voodoo knob today, and am having the same problems. The bottom of the knob doesnt attach to the top of the shift boot. I really have no clue what to do, I wanna make it fit and look like it came from the factory that way. Thats why super glue isnt gonna cut it... anyone got any more ideas?
