Will rubbing alcohol damage the paint?

I used to have a bottle of rubber alcohol in my car to clean stuff, eg sterring wheel, shift knob or bird's poo

But someone told me it would damage the paint
is that true?

yes if you leave it on there... thats like putting paint thinner on your car.

make sure you wipe it off with a damp cloth or something when your done.

Used it to take "fresh" spray paint off my Old Prelude. Was told to wash it off right away and reapply wax to the area.

rubbing alcohol will take all the wax off your car in the areas that you used it even if you wipe it right off.

if you want something to take off bird ****, use showtime spray and a microfiber towel. i keep that stuff in my trunk at all times.

It will not hurt the paint.

Cured automotive paint is not damaged by rubbing alcohol. It will remove wax though like he said.

For the exterior, use something like Turtle Wax bug and tar remover instead. for the interior, but a good cleaner/protectant like Meguires.
