Mugen Replica Spoiler 'review'

Edit - Just an update, KY is replacing my entire spoiler, so I suppose I made this review in haste. I'm a happy camper now

So I got it in this morning. Despite what a lot of people have said about the place selling this, it came in very well wrapped up. All the pieces were in a thick plastic bag, wrapped completely in bubble wrap and then put in a cardboard box. Looked good enough to me:

(after looking at this, I just noticed that weird doll on the couch is just about the creepiest thing ever. I've never even see it in my house before.. lol)

However, there was still some slight damage to one of the pieces in the box. One of the side parts had two little chips in it, and a small chunk out of one part, which a bodyshop quoted at $60 to fill in any chips or pin-holes(?) in it along with the chunk missing and sand (entire spoiler). Sorry for the blurry pics, but this is the best I could do:

Now the unfortunate part comes in here. I guess you DO get what you pay for, because the top part of the spoiler is actually like an inch or two too long. Because of this, when it's all connected together, the spoiler is longer than the bottom part of it, so there's a gap. Guy told me it'd be another $100 to file down the top part to make it fit. Couldn't really get a pic of this because I need the spoiler bolted on to make it all fit without holding it, and I had no one else to help me take the pic. Here's a pic of it, though:

It looks like it should fit, but the top part of the side pieces curves in, which means the top part of the spoiler needs to be shorter than the bottom.

Because of those things, I'm probably just going to sell it. I was just going to attempt to paint myself, but I can't fix those issues as well as I'd like it to turn out. Hopefully the guy I bought it from will give me back some money so I can sell it at a lower cost on here so that whoever buys it doesn't wind up spending $600 on a knockoff like I would be.

So there you have it.. The lil chips in the paint and the small chunk on one part missing was about what I was expecting, but I wasn't counting on spending another $100 to fix the length issue.

Somewhat assembled:

Luckily, aside from the top part being a lil too long, the rest of the pieces do fit together flush. All in all, I suppose for a $320 spoiler vs. the $1200 one, it's still pretty good. There are a lot of those lil black scuffs that you can see, but they really aren't damage to the spoiler. The guy told me he'd just sand down the entire thing since the parts he would fix would need it anyway.

generic lips and spoilers FTL. genuine ftw, even if it is an arm and a leg more, there's a reason for it to be more expensive. it's near flawless.

A bit more than that, I Vtec would have to get it repainted Tafetta White instead of its being Fiji Blue.

Yes, I could probably fix it myself with bondo. The reason it doesn't come out for some people is because you have to sand it perfectly so that it doesn't look bulged/uneven once you paint it.

I still maintain this is a good buy if you really want the mugen-esque spoiler without the price. It would've been $1500+ for the real mugen spoiler. Eff that, no spoiler is worth that kind of price. With a bit of work, I could probably have this on for $600 or so, but that's just too much for me right now since I'm moving out in less than a month.

Yes, I did get it from KY. And no, I wouldn't ask for a return. It's being shipped from China, I expected more dings than it had. Just wasn't expecting one peice to be an inch too long.

Welp it looks like I made this review in haste. My contact from KY is going to send me an entirely new spoiler set.

Let's hope your replacement is better. I don't really see the longer top section being fixed in the next shipment, but i hope it is for you. Maybe this is a sign to stay clear from gigantic spoilers that serve only aesthetic purpose!!

It's $1500+ because the spoiler is like $1200 new, then I'd have to repaint it.

The problem will be fixed. I talked to the guy and he said they used the wrong mold. I'm probably just going to fix this spoiler myself, bondo/sand it all down, re-primer it and then sell it on here. Make some money back on it, good to go.
