I was thinking about checking with one of the local bumper service folks that reconditions/repairs bumper covers......as I would like to duplicate a second exhause exit on the left side (and modify exhaust) to have matching dual exahust exits.
Does anyone know if this can be done? |

I'm sure it's just a matter of cutting away the soft plastic. I did mine with my pocket knife, and followed the stencil. Kind of scary how easy it was. I did it when I had my Miata and added a second exhaust outlet. Measure twice, cut once...
CarDomain.com Image right side was stock, left side I had to cut out. Last edited by wheeler; 05-12-2008 at 10:39 AM. |

It can be done. You can even do it yourself if you feel confident enough.
You need to cut away that area, google up a fiber glass DIY, and get to work. This isn't that difficult to do, and having a shop do it would probably cost anywhere between $200-500 depending on the shop and how much quality you want put into it. I strongly recommend not doing this, but it's your car and my knowledge on the effects of creating a dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder engine is limited. Maybe one of our more helpful engine guru's can chime in to as why this isn't a very practical idea. If you're doing it to attain a better exhaust note, I'm pretty sure you'll end up disappointed, as it'll still be a four banger, and won't product a throaty v6 or v8 noise you may be expecting. |
