I just switched from a 8500 x50 to a Valentine 1 and the Valentine 1 is better picking out "real" threats than the 8500 x50. I have mine set on Advance Logic and gives me some false threats, but about 97% of the time it alerts me of "real" threats in plenty of time to slow down.
So, valentine 1 FTW. |

I agree... You really can't beat the arrows. Set your V1 to automute K band for 30 seconds, and automute X in logic mode, and you've got a radar detector that's unbeatable. The Passport 9500(c)i is a good option too. Either way expect to pay $400 bucks for a good detector.

They work when the gun is pointed in your general direction. That includes oncoming police cars facing you, as well as police coming up from behind you. Do some research on radar detectors though. They're just a tool to avoid tickets. They can't prevent them, and when an officer is using a LIDAR (Laser) gun to get your speed, even the best radar detector can't protect you from that...

I live in Maryland but drive in Virginia and DC a lot. This sounds like it would be useful. Would it be useful in Maryland though? |

What's so great about the concealed display? Is it difficult to install? |
