Got my CF VSII Hood in the mail today... Painting the grill?

So I've noticed some of the VSII hood owners have a black grill or a white/steel colored grill. Mine came with a white one, but I'd love to make it black. However, the grill part of the hood is actually plastic, rather than metal wire (which I thought it would be). I don't wanna just tape off the hood and spray paint the grill, because I'm not sure how well the paint will stick to the plastic. You guys have any ideas?

I actually have 1.5 cans of Tamiya Black PolyCarbonate Spray Paint from when I did my tails, so I'm guessing this'll work. Ideas?

Oh and any install tips? I'm gonna be putting it on on Mother's day if the weather is nice. Whenever I do though, I'll post up pics for you guys who like Carbon Fiber on Fiji's.

imo..i didnt paint mine because it chips way too easily and you'll have to re-paint it constantly if your picky about things

No one else has done this? I've seen some hoods with the black grill so I know there has to be more advice from people who have performed this before...

And yeah I figured regular spray paint would chip off too easy, but maybe the poly carbonate spray would work better?

painting a grill is different from painting the mesh grills on a hood

Mine came in black, I'd get it professionally done.

I painted my vsII grill black, I just took off the whole grill apart from the hood and used a flat black spray paint and did two coats

yes it does start to show some areas of chipping, but not too noticeable
