Spoiler Question

I know this has probably been answered in many other threads and i'm sorry if this is a repetitive question but is it possible to put a Si spoiler on a 2008 Civic LX? Will it fit?

I found a pretty good deal on a brand new Si spoiler painted as well so if someone could give me an answer i'd greatly appreciate it.

Here's the link: eBay Motors: 2006 - 2008 Honda Civic SI 2DR Painted Rear Spoiler 07 (item 330234281367 end time May-13-08 09:55:20 PDT)

Thanks,

Rob

Sure it will. You'll have to have someone install it for you, most likely

yes it will fit. But you will still have to deal with the lip spolier being there. If you like to have double spoilers, more power to you but IMO it looks kinda tacky. But you can either shave it by taking it to the shop and have them fill the holes and repaint your trunk for $300-600 then install the spoiler OR you can find some Si owner here on this site that is willing to swap trunks with you (Best bet, but kind of rare). I'm still looking for my spoiler as well. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Are they hard to install? I tried looking to see if anyone has a step by step on how to do it but if it's to complicated I might just have the Honda dealership do it so I know it gets done right.

I never thought about that. Hmm...very good point. I guess i'll have to sit on this one for awhile and decide what i'm going to do. Or if I can find some pictures and see how it looks with the double spoilers but i'm sure it looks really odd.

There's a DIY on here somewhere to install the SI Spoiler on. I'd say get the HFP body kit first if you haven't already. I think having it kinda makes the lip spoiler flow better with the car.

I don't think it really looks as bad as people make it to be w/ the two spoilers. The lip spoiler is so minimal that I don't even notice it unless pointed out.

I think it kinda makes it look too busy on the trunk. It's not ugly...just the saying "less is more" ya know?

Si trunk will fit on the lower trim levels? Hmm, would the hoods fit too?

I'm thinking about getting this for my 08 LX but they don't have the right color. I've got the Royal Blue Pearl (#B536P4). They don't have that paint code listed... so...

1) How close a match is the B537M - Proton Blue Metallic / Atomic Blue
2) Any idea of what I could expect it to cost to have it repainted - and would it be best to have a dealership paint it?
3) How hard is this to install?

1. Atomic blue is NOWHERE close to royal blue pearl. You have one of the nicest colors out there but it sucks cause it's not an Si color so adding a spoiler will cost more! If it were an Si color I probably would have gotten it.

2. Cost is going to be a lot (for a spoiler). Most all dealerships, unless they have a separate "collision center" or body shop, don't do their own painting. They would probably send it to a local body shop. If you are going to have it painted, get quotes from local shops on paint/install... don't go through the dealership.

3. I've installed spoilers on my 89 and 93 preludes. The 89 had a LED brake light and was easy to install... So was the 93 (no LED light). If you feel comfortable drilling holes in your car, you may be able to do this yourself. If you don't just have a bodyshop (whoever painted it) do it.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but would rather do so than being told to search the forums! Probably will hear it anyways LOL

Anyways I found this and put in the Atomic Blue Paint code and was wondering if anyone had ever ordered from them before
- OEM Factory Style - Lighted Rear Spoiler

I will NOT be removing the lip spoiler I think it looked alright leaving it there.

Thanks for any answers you may have

I kinda wish Honda allowed you to choose whether or not you wanted a spoiler on the back or not. I'm not a big fan of the SI spoiler, and want to convert it to an EX. It seems like a lot of work tho.

Yeah but I bet they would just charge extra for the spoiler (something ridiculous ) vs. discounting the car without. no thanks.

Let me know how your dealing go with them if you do order it. I think I may order from them as well as it looks like it would only be $170 AND it doesn't look like they have restrictions on what paint codes - so I could get it in Royal Blue Pearl!!!

Swapping hoods and trunks is the easiest thing in the universe. They both held on by four bolts. That's it. I've swapped my hood and trunk DOZENS of times by myself.

All coupe trunks are interchangeable with eachother. Just keep in mind that Si's have no key hole, and lower models don't come with a popper.

BIG NO NO: Don't forget to re-attach the trunk popper mechanism before closing the lid or you'll be looking at a $300 service charge from Honda to open it back up for you.

I am unsure if I am going to chance it, now that I look at the link they provided for colors Atomic Blue is not listed! I have emailed them and will update once I get an answer

Actually, just curious why you aren't getting it from the original place on this thread listed as it's a bit cheaper and they do have Atomic Blue...
