Important Question: Authentic Mugen Sideskirt Install

Hey guys, Im hoping to get this question answered by one of you honda techs. I went in today to order the rest of my mugen body kit and the parts manager had a concern about the sideskirts.

He pulled up the mugen sideskirts on the computer and showed me what it came with. A bolt kit and the sideskirt itself.

Now, he pulled up the HFP kit, and it also had a bolt kit, but in addition it had a frame rail thing that was required for that install.

He was concerned that the mugen sideskirts might have an installation problem if they required that railing and we didn't have it, since its not listed on his parts window. He said it was possible that the Mugen Si had that part on it. He was just voicing his concern and just wasn't certain, but wanted me to be aware of the situation.

Does anyone know if that piece is required? or does the sideskirt and bolt kit come with everything necessary?

Thanks in advance, Im now waiting on a 100% definitive answer to this question before I place my order, so please god someone drop some knowledge on me ASAP! :)

The frame rail thing your talking about is just a piece of metal that hooks to the side skirt, and then on the other side is just double sided foam tape. Im assuming your getting the mugen sides for a sedan, sorry but im not sure about mounting with that. Im hoping your installing yourself and if so, you can buy screws/tape ect and put em on yourself!

Right, that rail does come with HFP, thats correct.

My parts manager was just curious/concerned that the mugen sideskirts did NOT show any type of attachment rail like that, they just had a bolt kit.

He thought it was possible that it might need something like that. I just wanted to confirm that the mugens came with everything they needed before placing an order and not being able to install if they didnt.

if I had to guess, they don't require the rail, but the parts guy did bring up an interesting point about it.

You might try sending a couple PM's out to members who have the mugen sideskirts installed...

They'll know for sure.

You'll just have to search for people who've done the conversion.
One that I know of is: K20 SDN

I would assume that the kit should come with everything you need though.
It probably just mounts differently than the HFP sideskirts.

Im making that same assumption. Better safe than sorry, though, I suppose.

Well just because the HFP needs the railing doesn't mean Mugen needs one too. I'm guessing it doesn't need it, but you can ask ppl who put on the JDM Mugen Civic skirts, which should be the same as the Mugen Civic skirts.

Edit: I was digging around for this and found it. I'm pretty certain it won't need it. Here's the Honda parts listing for the skirt, and the hardware mounting kit (3) shows no railing.
