ceramic tint
I am in the market for some tint and found out that ceramic is the way to go when you have GPS/XM.
I have no experience with this tint so was just wondering if anyone else had it and could share your experience with it. Got quoted at 220 for johnson insulatir 30% |

I'm not a fan of JWF. I've heard too many horror stories of adhesive failure with their products so I won't even let them in my shop.
However, $220 is a really good price, makes me wonder what's up with them. If they're selling InsulatIR for that cheap they must have a very bad installer or way too much competition in that area. Some of the darker ceramics can be more reflective than traditional tint, but not all of them. Geoshield's new black ceramic (G series, not to be confused with GEO series) is a lovely BLACK ceramic film with low reflectivity and great heat rejection. The GEO series is pretty reflective in the 30%, but not so bad in the lighter films. Geoshield Architectural Window Film Huper Optik is still top dog, but super expensive. Another option you might want to consider is LLumar's new ATX (Axcess) While not a true ceramic it does have the same benefits: LLumar® Axcess™ by Solutia Plus, it looks like regular film: ![]() Which kind of makes it hard to sell since when people pay over $300 for tint they want it look different than regular film. Also, last I knew, SolarGard doesn't have a ceramic. They do have Ultra Performance series (70% and 50% only), but it's not a ceramic. My advise is to call back that Johnson shop and ask them the questions located here: How YOU can pick a good tint shop If it sounds fishy, run away. Ceramics are very hard to install properly. Untrained people can have horrible results. You can get what's called ghosting:

Are you saying all Honda dealers have FormulaONE tinters?
Or are you saying the factory privacy glass is FormulaONE film? Because factory privacy glass is embedded in the glass. Johnson InsulatIR is a bit reflective in the 30%, but the 40% and higher isn't bad. You might want to look into geoshield's new G series. It's black and less reflective. There's an accurate done in it on my website. Hurricane Tint |

I ended up getting some huber 30 for 350 with the sunroof.
the installer did an awesome job and suggested a 60 or 70 for the windshield for some extra heat protection. I figure I spent this much, mideswell go all out now. Any experience with this? darkdan chime in here please. |
