That emblem will not work correctly on his car. The emblem you are selling is flat & will work on the UDSM FA5's. The trunk on his FD is curved like the JDM FD's so therefore he needs the REAL FD2 CTR rear emblem for it to install correctly.

That's the same one in the other post. If that one works for his FD then it will not work for the USDM FA's. The FA's trunk is flat in the back so if it's curved it will stick out on the bottom.

So the real type R emblem for the rear will not fit the FA5 trunk? Even if you do some modding?

The FD2 CTR emblem will not fit the USDM FA's because of the bottom of it is curved for the FD trunks. What most people are doing is using either the DC5 rear or the '02-'03 EP3 front emblem. It's up to you which one you run because nobody is going to be able to tell the difference really.

I just ordered the Type R emblem from options auto and the guy I talked to said it will fit as long as I snap off the tabs and use some kind of 3M foam molding tape or something like that. I will be pissed if this thing doesn't fit.

You need the tape to fill in the space where it is curved but regardless of which one you get you'll have to snap off the pins on all of them.

If I remove the original backing, can I modify the emblem by shaving some of the material off to make it have less of a curve? What are the emblems made out of? Are they plastic or metal? Or would I just be better off just using the tape trick and dealing with the slight space?

They're made out of plastic so I would not try to cut them down. If you do the tape trick there won't be a gap because the extra tape is filling the gap.
