Will a color-matched grill piece ever be released?

Does anyone know if a color-matched grill piece for the coupe (like the one on the Si) will ever be released? I would like to get one, but I don't want to rip one off of an Si, take off the Si decal and then have to paint it.

Don't you think it would be at least $100 aftermarket, anyway? If so, why not go ahead and have someone paint it?

You can buy the Si grill from Honda. The Si badge is just screwed on. You can unskrew it. Though the Atomic Blue isn't available.

I think a member said that the best way to do it is sand blast it, and perhaps this is what the body shop asking $100 would have done. Merely sanding the chromed plastic would probably not be enough to have a good end result.

I have been looking around myself, Mugen has a grill, but it doesn't match the USDM sedan bumpers (will not fit). I think the best thing for now is to wait for the aftermarket to catch up to the new Civic. The EK Civics have loads of aftermarket grills... just give it some time.
The chrome is just buffed chrome paint over a black base coat. It sands off. You don't have to sand it completely off. Get some 120-150 grit sandpaper, sand the top layer to give it some "teeth" and then spray it with Krylon Fusion spray paint. You can find it at Wal-Mart or True Value or pretty much any other store like these. Fusion is special formulated to bond to plastics without primer. The "teeth" you sand into the part are rough enough for the paint to really get in there and stick, but smooth enough to not look jagged. You don't wanna sand the entire thing down, unless you choose to, in which case you need at least a 60 grit to really get in there.

I'm not quite sure about the coupe, but I honestly don't think so. The coupe bumper, from what I know about the Si, it should bolt on.

Based on those two pics, the grill should come off with the top cover unbolted without having to take the grill off.

No you dont have to take the bumper off. You take the plastic cover, then you want to unscrew 2 bumper screws then it give you room to take the gril out.

BUT anyways, I got a friend who works at a shop, he is going to try to hook me up. Ill post pics as soon as I get it dont, I dont work tomorrow, so I am going to dedicate tomorrow to that.
