Noob question
I'm very new to Hondas. My original intention was to get a Tiburon because they are as stylish as any porche. Regardless, I wanted to know from the more Honda-familiar which companies that make body kits make solid products. I'm not sure if that sentence makes alot of sence, it's late and I'm going to bed, but I wanted to put this out here awhile cause I might forget.

it all depends on what you are looking for. Basically anything none fiberglass will last a while (i.e Urethane and Carbon Fiber). I had Wings West on my 7th gen civic and i never had a problem with the kit (the paint job was a different story though, lol).

Anyway, if you want something fairly inexpensive, Extreme Dimensions makes high-quality, FAIRLY inexpensive pieces. Some are too wild for most people's tastes, but their products are ABS/fiberglass, polyurethane, and carbon fiber, including some colored carbon. There isn't much available right now, but you should look into ED, C-Wings, Bomex, Veilside, Mugen, RonJon, Amuse, J's Racing, just for starters. Keep in mind that a decent body shop will have no problem taking a kit made for another car and conforming it to yours. But you should always start with a Photoshop that you can give them to show them what you want done. Stay away from places that say they have body kits starting at $299 for the full kit, or anything that even remotely sounds like that. 9 times outta 10, those are places that stock mass production kits. That usually means, poor materials, poor quality molding/casting/constuction, low-impact resistance, and poor fitment. Word of caution however: you shouldn't expect too much love from your fellow Honda folk (or any automotive enthusiasts regardless of manufacturer--Honda, Toyota, Dodge, Hyundai, etc...) if you put on a wild or non-functional bodykit, especially if it doesn't conform to the car's original design, so don't be surprised if you don't receive too many compliments. Some people are just mean about that kinda thing. But your idea is your idea and nobody can take that from you. Therefore, do what you love, even if others don't love what you do. Keep in mind, however, that the best bodykits in the world don't attempt to create a new car; they just enhance the car that's already there. Plus they're functional (i.e. aerodynamic). Those companies that I've mentioned above have or should have products soon that are aesthetically pleasing, yet not overpowering of the car. And please, for the love of God, stay away from Aluminum wings... |

TO answer your ? on why not the tibby, there was the terrible gas milage, weight, and relative weak engine. I went with the Si because of all the power it's got at a relativly low cost. Also, I really wanted a 6 speed and a nice small coupe.
I really hope Veilside comes out with a body kit for the Si, the one they have for the tibs was really hot. |
