Honda Courtesy Lights

Has anyone here installed the courtesy lights from Honda? I saw the DIY from some aftermarket LEDs, but was wondering how the Civic ones were...

I'm considering this mod, but I've never done any type of car wiring before, and I'm pretty uneasy about the whole process.

The wiring is all plug and play, so there are no worries there. The issue is pulling apart the dash and drilling/cutting holes to place the lights there. Do you have any experience there?

OEM Copurtesy Lights -> $80-$100
Aftermarket wiring, LEDs, and self-installation -> $15-$25

Knowing you get the same look for only 1/4 of the $ of the OEM lights
-> priceless

Do you really wanna pay $85 for 3 lights?

I did all the wiring, thanks to *forgot his name* who made a courtesy light DIY in the DIY forum. Works perfectly, though I've only wired 2 things in any car.

None whatsoever...as I've said before, I'm completely new to all of this.

My last car was a gift from my grandfather...a 98 Contour, so you can imagine why I didn't put much effort into that one

I installed a bunch of leds (8 I think) from walmart for maybe $30 with a switch, with no expirence I used the instructions from collegehillshonda for the various parts I need to take apart. I hooked up the power wire to the
12v source that is used for the honda courtesy lights and everything look like they where factory installed. The next thing I'm going to do is hook the leds up so they turn on when the door is open.

Well then, it just depends on how handy you are....

If you get the Honda OEM lights, then honestly, you won't have a problem. If you have the tools necessary, then it can be done. Do you know someone that can help? I put fogs in my old car with no prior experience. The only help I needed was to hold the bumper while I cut it. I just used my step-dad's tools and went at it. When I was done it was like they were from the factory.

I wouldn't suggest you do any wiring right away, but I think after reading some posts on here and maybe using Google to look up different info on LEDs and whatnot, you could do the custom install like other people have done.

Thanks for the tips, sir.
