Thanks for the DIY. I know this is bringing the thread back from the dead, but I just installed the black version of the LED tail lights and wanted to share my results.
It took me about an hour to install them, it was not very hard, just very cold here, and the bolts/screw under each tail light had a lot of rust making them stick. I would give the fit 8/10, brightness a 10/10 and style a 6/10. The fit isn’t a problem from a few feet away, and I think I may be able to adjust it a bit, but up close you can see the edges are not 100% level with the edges of the body/ the trunk lid edges. The black version looks a lot more "rice" then the red version the OP has, so I may apply a red or light smoke tint to tame down the chrome. The actual function of the LED's is pretty cool, but the black/chrome is a bit much for my taste. I also have 68smd LED bulbs as reverse bulbs, which are very bright. The tail light kit only came with halogen reverse bulbs so I had to buy the LED reverse bulbs separate. One additional note, the LED tails appear to have some sort of resistor box (could just be a ballast) wired in parallel, but they still set off the hyper flash for the turn signals. ![]() Yeh, it needs to be washed Last edited by scoyne88; 01-17-2013 at 05:00 PM. |

Here is a quick video of the turn signal during the day, as well as a photo of the brake lights lit. I also replaced the third brake light with an LED bulb.
Video of turn signal: Honda civic 06 lx led tail lights - YouTube I still need to install resistors, and plan on applying a 20% tint film to tone down the chrome. Here is a photo of the running lights and brake lights on.

Well I applied the 20% smoke tint overlays today and they didn't really take the rice away. While the tint overlays themselves were nice and easy to apply, they still let allot of the chrome and plastic show through. Im going to leave them for now and try red overlays the next warm day.
