dyed VS ceramic

Well...I have now come to a realization that i can't use metallic film so now the choice come down to dyed or ceramic....which one you guys think i should go with? expensive dyed will run me into 200USD while a good ceramic (Llumar ATX, Thank for recommending darkdan ) will cost way into 300...I might also look into Formula One ceramic...but yea....basically i want to narrow down to which camp do i want to use....soo please all comment and advice welcome!

Some dyed films have okay heat rejection. 3M Color Stable, Madico CharCOOL, come to mind. They perform very well due to the way they're dyed.

Almost all other dyed films have horrible heat rejection.

So it comes down to how much heat you want to reduce.

Also, ceramics CANNOT fade or change color. I just don't mean the warranty covers it, I mean they can't! Try fading titanium nitride....it's hard!

Also ATX isn't a ceramic, it's a half breed or something. Even the reps have a hard time explaining it. It's not a true ceramic (because the material is not recognized as one), but it's close. They call it "cermet". Yes, I made all kinds of Kermit the frog jokes about it.

F1 is top notch too. CPFilms makes both Llumar and Formula One. The Pinnacle line is a ceramic and has higher heat rejection than all the previously mentioned films.

Go look at some samples and see which one you like the looks of better. They all look very different.

why not use the metallic?
I was going to go ceramic because I thought it would
interfear with cell phone and sutch.
But it hasent.I asked the tint fella if it would interfear with
Navi ?(when i get it.) He said no.I said if it do will you strip off the old
and insall ceramic at no charge? He said yes!

I haven't heard of a metalized film messing up an aftermarket GPS, but I'm sure it will happen someday.

The problem comes when there's an embedded antenna in the glass (like for your radio). So you can lose AM radio reception. If you don't listen to AM....who cares? However, sometimes you lose FM while the defroster is on.

Plus, to get great heat rejection you need ceramic or metal. Some people don't like the way full metal films look. Personally, I like the bling.

Yes, metalized films can reduce cell phone reception. It's not by much, but it can. I show customers this by taking a piece of tint and wrapping it around my cell phone and they can see it lose a bar. Then I do the same with a ceramic or high quality dyed and it won't.

It will look "similar" to this:

Just as long as the adhesive holds up on the Johnson. Be sure to keep it legal (to protect the warranty) and get your warranty card and receipt and store them somewhere safe!

I'm just not a Johnson fan. You might be better off with Madico Advance Ceramic or Geoshield.
