Is it just me or does the shifter seem cheap

I mean the feel, seems kind of "Plastic" to me I don't know if it's because it's a cable shifter or because it mounts to the console (plastic) or what. I do think the shifter in my old '90 HB Civic feels a lot better.

I kinda noticed this aswell. Not that it was cheap- but i really did not like the feeling of the cable shifter. im starting to get the hang of it but i cant say that i love it just yet. Gimme a couple more weeks with the car and i'll know.

The Civic Shifter is the best!

You know the cheap cars have shifters that you can feel the vibrations and engine rattles. That's how my 94 prelude vtec was. On the NSX, RX7, Porsche 996, 997 the shifter is smooth. When you don't have the transfer of rattles, it's safer for the tranmission gears as well. A BMW mechanic told me about how not to touch the shifter when driving in gear because it causes grinding when in gear. This is what they were taught in Germany at the BMW manufacturing plant.

So I love the quality of the new civic shifter. It feels the same as the high dollar cars.

The reason the rx7 shifters are smooth, is because they are weighted. It all depends on the bushings and gear fluid(RWD). The civic however, feels very good. It goes in and out easily and effortless. I like how it is precise. Maybe its because you have the lx and not the si..

Take off the SI knob and feel how weighted it is stock. I just put my Skunk2 in, and they were almost the same weight.
