The Nighthawk Black Pear paint has blue metallic flakes, so that's normal. That's why it's called "pearl". Use some of this: http://www.meguiars.com/?auto-paint-cleaners/ScratchX or some other similar product. If they're fairly deep, get someone (or learn) how to buff out those swirl marks...

Then claybar. When washing, try to use either a microfiber towel, or a wool mitt. Don't use a lot of soap -- I only use two capfuls of soap for a bucket of water. Don't try to scrub hard -- use the water to try to get those bits loose, then lightly wipe....

There nothing you can do about swirls aside from never washing it, no matter how careful you are

yeah, no matter how much you take care of your paint, you're gonna get swirls. you could minimize them, but they're always gonna come back. I heard that 3m swirl eliminator works, but its like 35 dollars per bottle. Plus i heard its only really affective when used with the 3m foam polishing pad, another 20 dollars or so. Good luck!

Even if you can't avoid it, it's best to not exacerbate the problem by not doing things that will help the paint last longer....

a small part of it comes wit the technique you use to wash it...lol it doesnt play that big of a role..because black cars are just like that, you'll see every dry spot of water and every lil detail of imperfection. i learned to cope with it. but yeah, whenever i wash my car, i never wash it in circular motion...i always either wipe up and down or left and right...in one motion..never circular...even with that, theres still marks, but no swirl marks...but yeah...blacks are just like that, when i bought my car i babied it too...but you gotta learn to accept it lol

use microfiber
don't wipe without quick detailer
be careful all the time
polish once in a while
wax
don't put microfiber on the ground
keep rinsing microfiber when using it
don't wash the car while its hot
wash in the shade

there are probably like 50 more rules

my last car was black. had it for over 6 years. and yeah i'd get swirl marks after every time i washed it. there would be swirl marks in the exact directions where i used my wash mitt. i only washed it about once every 2-3 weeks though(spray detailer w/ microfiber cloths in between) so i'd throw a light coat of wax on after every wash and it kept the swirl marks to a minimum, almost completely removing them. even after 6 years the paint looked brand new. all i ever used was meguiars gold class, none of that gimicky scratch-x or cleaner wax stuff.

i remember how big of a pain that was though.. thats why my current car is now white :)

I thank god every day that I didn't settle for black ;(

No offense to NHBP owners, it's a beautiful color.. if you aren't as lazy as I am.

wow, those look like more than swirls. good luck with that. all the replies you got were good, all of them were pretty valid. i've found that if you polish/wax the car with a 100% cotton t-shirt, it helps with the swirls, and it does help to polish in linear movements, not circular. if you do use a microfiber cloth, make sure that its a new one. If you use one that's been washed many times, that might help make new swirl marks.

if you want your wax to last a good amount of time, you should use a paste wax, the only con to this is that its a bit*h to buff off. A solution to this is to use a liquid wax, it is waaay easier to buff off, only thing is that it wont last as long. If i were you, i'd go with a paste wax, it'll be a pain, but it'll be well worth it. Before you wax, you should give you car a nice shine with a polish, i've used swirl away from wax depot, it works really well. you can order it at the wax depot site. as for black paint, i have used black paint wax from zymol, its works well, a little pricey though, around 40 dollars. it spreads easily and buffs off easily, you just gotta wear gloves or else your hands will turn black, have fun.

It's probably not totally your fault, the dealer might have marred the paint before you even bought it. i've seen that happen alot with brand new black cars. you just need a good detail. wash, claybar, polish and wax it. polish it really well, you might have to do several coats of polish, it'll be a bi*ch, but'll it'll be well worth it. i also recommend that you apply several coats of wax to protect your freshly polished paint... just my two cents.
