I'll be making as many as I can this weekend in brushed aluminum, and I'm sending out an application for licensing to Honda this weekend. I'm not expecting them to approve it, because I'm only a small home based business but who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky.

Black ones should be back from the painters by this weekend :) Red are still out for paint, and brushed aluminum are ready. All I have to do is finish the new engraving design, because I can't use the civic with the reverse "c" since Honda owns the copyright.

They will work the same way my fathers sets do. The back has 3M special automotive adhesive tape used for special applications like this. All you do is peel and stick! Make sure you do it right the first time, as there is no second time. Once they're on, they're on for good. :P

What would it look like if the front C was reversed instead? basically have the "C"'s facing outwards instead of inwards.

Oddly enough, someone else brought up the fact that the word "civic" itself isn't copyrighted and that I could use the word civic, just not in any of Honda's fonts. I'm not sure how true this is however and I don't want to risk getting sued. Any lawyers here want to confirm this? :P If I can still write Civic and Si, just not in Honda's fonts, I'd be more than happy to do so.

As one of the first, if not THE first guy to come up with this idea, I know all the in's and outs of this process all too well. Long story short, they will not license the door sills. They claimed they have too many complaints on brushed alluminum sills offered in the Acura lineup and do not wish to take on that headache on any of their Honda cars.

They do monitor these sites and you probably will be warned as I was, that legal action would take place if I decided to sell the sills w/o the license. however, didnt someone else here sell a bunch? To me it wasnt worth the risk.

I do know exactly who you need to talk to at AHM & would gladly help you out anyway I can. Its a LONG process (about 6-8 months) but maybe you'll get lucky. PM me if interested in more info.

From when I checked with my attorneys they were kind of split and said it was a "gray area". Civic itself and "Si" itself aren't technically copyrighted. Civic can be interpreted in a general term and is considered public domain. Grouping them together though as "Civic Si" is infringing though on a Honda Copyright. They RECOMMENDED that I do not pursue the project as technically Honda could give you hell if they wanted to and pursue legal action. They said both sides (my argument and their argument) could prove valid points, but in general they said it could be a big headache in the end. They pretty much said if I choose to do so to not do it as a business or for profit.
