Rim cleaning help

I was on a road trip and I had to drive through some unpaved pavement (they were just starting to lay it and it was still hot).

Anyway, the chunks of pavement (gravel sized) got stuck on the inside of my rim and are a pita to take off. Anyone have any suggestions on how i could clean it off? The chunks will come off when I pull on them, but there is a hard residue that doesn't seem to come off.

help!

Use a bug and tar remover. Or anything that will break down construction grade bituminous.

hmm so some sort of thinner would work from what u guys are saying? i'll probably try to find something less volatile like a bug remover first.. but if all else fails i'll try gasoline or some sort of thinner lol.

You could also try using a clay bar.
