Clarification

Hey unplugged and Gone, I have some questions on the diagram that may be helpful to others and myself. The green wires on the diagram from the start buttom and the #86 terminal on the relay are GROUND wires correct? Then the brown wire on the start button needs a constant 12V power source correct? The rest looks pretty self explanitory, #30 terminal gets tapped into the white wire and #87 to the yellow. Hot wire from the relay to the start buttom comes from the #85 terminal. Just confirm I have the diagram interpreted right for me unplugged and post some finished pics of your install if you can.

yes, green is the ground wires.

I didn't make it an easy write up because its not something anyone should just do. You should have electrical experience along with taking the risk of voiding the warranty by tapping into factory electrical wiring.. especially something as important as your ignition.

yes, you can disable the key from cranking the engine and only using the push button. The key will still be needed to be in IG2 to use the push start.

if you can't understand the pic..then doing the job may not be cut out for you. I drew it out as simple as I could but its not for everyone to understand if you don't have previous experience.

can I ask what you do for a living unplugged? Are you in electronics as a profession or? Seems like you know your stuff when it comes to electrical work.

i'm still a college student..but I have been around cars since I was 14 and just learned them inside out. As for electronics..I took 3 classes in high school on it, so i'm familiar with diagrams and circuitry.

The helms books is something good to own on each vehicle your purchase as it breaks out every installation/removal process for the vehicle along with electrical diagrams. Helm still doesn't have one for the civic at the time I wanted to order it..but I will most likely buy it when it is released.

Hey unplugged?
Why the relay? Why not wire the switch straight to the yellow and white wires? Since the start switch is likely to be a monentary contact type? The other 2 wires are for the dash light. Just my 2 cents.

because the switch can't handle the power going through. The relay can. That's why its a 30amp relay.

The relay works like this.. The connection to the starter is open. Once a 12v signal is sent to the relay from the switch, the connection is closed for the time the button is pressed, and the engine starts.

YOU MUST USE A RELAY! Its only 4 bucks..so USE IT

I put an Ignited push started in my Legend. It was kewl as crap to have but totally impractical. Everytime I got in a pushed it, though, I had a big smile on my face

By the way, if you dunno what you're doing, please save yourself the trouble and stay away. I wasn't paying attention and grabbed the wrong gauge wiring and ended up melting it to my carpet when I was doing the install. It can be a very dangerous thing.
