Barbequed grille

Ok. I was painting the grille on GG FA5 black. Took the grille out, scuffed it up, put on 4 coats of satin black, then put on 3 coats of satin clear coat. All was looking good. I put it under a heat lamp for about an hour since it was cold and I wanted it to cure before I reinstalled. Lamp was about 12" from grille. Came back out to the garage and the heat lamp had melted the heck out of my grille. Really warped it up good. I can't believe it actually did this. The heat from the lamp didn't feel that hot. Guess I'll be ordering another tomorrow. Live and learn.

I was thinking a new one was going to be expensive, but it's only going to be like $60 and I'm going to order a Nighthawk Black Pearl so it won't need to be painted. I will probably shoot is with a few coats of satin clear so it won't be so glossy.

New grille installed last night. I'm getting good at this. Removed front bumper, removed old grille, installed new grille, replaced bumper on car.............all in 25 minutes. 4th time I've had the bumper off.

FYI...Got the new grille from local Honda dealer. $72.65 tax and all. I could have gotten it on-line for $50, but by the time they added shipping and handling, it was $63.00. It was worth the extra $9 to get it now.
