Open Exhaust?

ok so i see alot of kids on youtube taking off their muffler can. does having an open exhaust do anything good or bad to ur car other than make it loud as hell? just wondering btw. theres got to be bad things but also maybe good things. i mean, im a noob with car performance right now but wouldnt it be the same as getting a skunk2 and taking the muffler off too? im confused.

they might make some small hp gains with the stock muffler being removed...but nothing that would be really felt while driving I don't think. I wouldn't do it.
