Has anyone figured out how to disable the audible alarm that beeps when you are not wearing your seatbelt?

it involves disabling your airbags at the same time.

not advisable.

OK, I really need to keep this answer in a notepad document or something. Considering not everyone is required by law to wear a seatbelt, the question is worth answering correctly.

The seatbelt alarm is somehow connected to the airbag sensor, simply snipping the wire would make your airbags useless. The other option would be to either find an old Honda seatbelt clip, disassemble the plastic holding the clip to the belt, and just shove the metal clip in there.

Other people have said tinfoil will work, certain coins (maybe nickles?), or other flat metal objects. Hope that helps.

I hate to be this way, but SEARCH. This has been covered at least 10 times already. Perhaps a sticky might be due. (or not, since it is intentional disabling of a 'safety feature')

i have no idea why this is so complicated either..

3 ways:

- cut/dismantle harness under your seat. this will turn off your airbags and your seat belt chime.

- buy another seatbelt unit, cut the strap, insert spare seat belt clip into slot.

-dismantle dash, and cut off chime unit. No warning sounds ever, for anything.

I also like the feature because I don't like when my passengers don't where seat belts. By the car constantly chiming, I can make the passenger wear their belt and won't look like I'm nagging.

On the topic though, IF you want to get rid of it, I'd say the best option is what was mentioned in the previous posts about getting a replacement clip and using that in place of the one you have. I strongly advise you though not to, a little discomfort is worth saving your life. You'll get use to the seatbelt eventually and then you won't be able to drive without it.

The problem I have is that none of these 3 options is really very good in the long run. I still want my airbags to work, and I like the warning chime when I leave my lights on by accident. Also, having a spare seatbelt clip in my car is a bit of a pain in the butt in my opinion. Anyone know if all Honda seatbelts are the same? Can I go find one from a 1988 Prelude or something and have it work?

It's not that I don't wear my seatbelt, because I usually do. It's only on long highway trips that I usually don't, or sometimes if it is bothering me.

the best option is to have the clip, man. you don't ever have to fuss with it. just pop it in and never take it out? its not like you have to take care of it.
anyway, i think its great that some people aren't required by law to put on a seatbelt, but does the law bar common sense/safety? so, speed and not wear your seatbelt...you may not care if you die, but it sure sucks to be the guy you crashed into.

Have you ever been in a car accident? Get thrown out of a car once, and you'll put on your seatbelt no matter how fast or where you're going.

I hear that 95% of the people that get thrown out of cars don't want it to happen again. The other 5% probably just DIE. And by "I hear," I meant I made it up on the spot, but I'm sure it's true. :)

let's not be stupid here... i'm only 20 and the only time I dont wear my seatbelt is when I'm driving from one end of the parking lot to the other. WEAR YOUR DAMN SEATBELT.

60mph + no seatbelt + rear end collision = YOU ARE F'ING DEAD.

Take my advice? just trying to save your life.

You nanny posters aren't serious, are you? He and everyone else who posts on how to get rid of the annoying beeping aren't looking for Mom to tell them to be safe and always wear your seatbelt. Come on people. They're looking for an answer on how to solve the problem, not a lesson in Driver's ED.

When people ask about changing their seats to leather, we'll warn them that the side air bags won't work.

When people ask about turning off their seatbelt reminder, we'll warn them that they MIGHT DIE. You know, just trying to help out.

Seriously, get in a bad accident, come back and tell me you enjoyed flying out of the car.

Bravo +1

On the other hand, if some jamoke wants to get themselves killed, that's fine by me, as long as their free flying body does not come through my window! As long as their activity does not affect MY safety (see flying body note, above) I could care less if they want to play Russian roulette with their life. Once again, Natural Selection is hard at work in this thread.

Which is all part of why there should just be a sticky on this so we can stop having this debate every time some knuckle dragging fool wants to stop wearing his seatbelt. Just tell them how to disable it and be done with it.

I think Fuse 37 is to disable the DRL's, not too sure.

Would you ride one without a helmet?

If you dont wear your seatbelt and you get smashed up against the windshield and paramedics have to come save you in rush hour traffic, I'm going to be pissed that I'm going to be late for work.

If you fly out of your car and I run you over, I'm going to be pissed because I just ran you over.

Don't have kids, please.

I'm only 20 and I think I have more sense than you. I do retarded things everyday and there's no point in decreasing my life expectancy anymore.

Lol, Biggeo. There is a distinct difference between motorcycle riding and removing your seatbelt in a car: One is not equipped with a safety device to be disabled. Bad example. Though I will certainly agree that riding a motorcycle (which I do, BTW) is a calculated risk. However, I don't disable my headlamp or rear brake because I feel like it. Lets at least keep apples to apples here.

Again, I am completely 'Pro' for folks who want to disable their seatbelt warnings, not wear seatbelts, or pull out their airbags to reduce weight. Your safety, your choice, as long as it does not impact someone else's saftey. Your wife/child/parent/lover/friends/IRS might miss you should your mangled body no longer come home, but that is YOUR choice, as long as it does not have the potential to hurt someone else (the DRL discussion might fit in well here). You might even be able to salvage the next generation by getting killed before you can pass along your bad habits

Again, let's just sticky the solution so we can stop having these pointless 'safety' debates. No one's mind is going to be changed, the safety conscious will continue to be safe, the 'live life on the edge' folks will continue to do whatever makes them happy. Sticky a solution to the seatbelt alarm disable, please.
