07 hood defect?>!

okay i got a 2007 gg lx and i was washing my car the other day when i noticed this dent on my hood! further inspection its like an illusion, there is no dent that i can see or feel at some angles or lighting but if you look at it in the right light it looks like a dent from a rock, or something in the size of a small bubble gum ball?! its located in the middle of the hood anyone else notice this?! i dunno know what it could be over spray or some thing that the 07s got?! i dunno if i should have them get me a new hood!?

The hood on my 06 developed "dents" in the AZ summer. It was replaced and repainted under warranty.

If its like dullspots in the paint that u can see when the light hits it a certain way. You should try claybar-ing the crap out of it. I had a couple flat spots on my paint that were really pissing me off, eventually got the idea to get some claybar, it doesnt come off easy but it does come off. Just some patience and elbow grease should do it. They are hard to see under normal light conditions what i did to locate them was to have the reflection of the sun run over suspected areas and if they look dull hit em with the claybar, until their gone... like u said it would be near impossible to catch them on camera. Anyway hope this helps..

I have a 07 Si and replaced my stock hood with a Carbon Fiber one the second day I owned it. Therefore it has only seen about 50 miles of driving. I unwrapped it this evening to inspect the paint condition. It seems to be perfect with no flaws of any kind. I will say that Ive seen car haulers going down the highway with chains hanging down on the cars being delivered to dealerships. If there is a accident during shipment, the dealer will typically fix the damage and repaint that area. If the prep work is not perfect you may see a flaw through the clearcoat. All things to consider.....

it is actually a grind mark where the car was sanded before being painted either in the metal state or when primed. if sanded to hard or at an angle it can form the illusion of a dent but is actually where the pigments of the paint sets differently in the groves made by the sander.
