Is your interior as obnoxious as mine?

My interior has gotten so many scratches ( I don't even know from what) on the side door panel, on the dash board, by the radio, and on the door hold-on thing next to the side armrest. How the hell do they get there and why are there so many little scratches and nicks? It's starting to piss me off.... Is there any way to get rid of them or interior protection? I need help

I got the same problem. Armorall seems to help diminish the look but a scratch is a scratch (especially on plastic). I haven't figured out a better solution...

My Si has some of the lowest quality plastics in the interior that I've ever seen. I've had two other new cars with much better plastics, a 2001 Mustang and a 2003 Mazda6i...both cars cost less than the Si and had better interior materials. Not to mention they both had better paint.
I still love my Si, however, when you buy a new car you really don't know much about the build quality until a few months later. When I bought my Si it was mint...a few months later I discovered that the paint will chip if you look at it wrong and the plastics will scratch if you accidentally rub anything against it!!! What the F???
Recently took my car for an oil change and when I got it back from the Honda dealership I had a nice new scuff on my driver's side door interior. And by the time I have my car paid off, my hood will probably be all touch-up paint! What the hell is with this f'n paint??? Build quality is great (fit/overall finish) however, materials seem very cheap inside and out(paint).

The older civics had better, higher quality interiors, they were also econoboxes. So i guess honda just cut costs for interiors this year huh?

This is one reason I want to replace my interior with leather, so that the side door panels can be replaced with leather as well and don't have to worry about those stupid white scratch and scuff marks. Blehhhh

having leather won't prevent scratches from the door panel bud

Plastic materials on the door and kick plate would be identical either way

I used Meguirs Interior Cleaner (or something to that effect) and the scratches came right out...

I have a few scratches but nothing insane. What i've found to be interested is when it cold and i'm driving, every time i hit a bump it sounds like my windshield is cracking. I dunno if it's the glue coming undone or what but I suppose I'll find out this winter.

A lot of time the "scratches" are just mostly dirt or just a mark left. They can easily be rubbed out. It's kinda the same as if you bump into a car and go "oh shit!" when you see what appears to be a plethora of scratches on your car to only find out it was just some paint transfer.

As far as the paint quality goes, you are correct, it is terrible.

What we all need to understand is this...

I think we can all agree that this is the best generation of the civic. Best h/p best mpg, best styling. They had to spend a ton of money to redesign the civic from one end to the other. Then they had to worry about keeping it in the same price range that new civics are usually in (ie: under 20K). To do this they had to skimp on some things; being...

Thinner Paint
Cheaper Plastics
Smaller a/c unit (hence why our a/c is never "ice" cold)
Other things we probably haven't really found yet.

When it comes down to it you have to think of it this way. Is it worth it for you to buy a car with a great engine, great MPG, and great overall design and skimp on the things mentioned above? Or would you rather have a car with those things mentioned above but have it lack the engine/mpg/design?

If you can't live with it then trade the car in for another mazda or mustang or w/e other car you feel has better plastics and paint.

Recommendation: why don't people here just use that clear bra stuff on the lower part of the doors?

This is a common complaint with these cars ... I noticed how receptive the plastic was to scuffs and scratches within my first few weeks of ownership. I have been very careful ever since.
I clean/protect my interior with 303 - works great!

Civic w/ naav......No i mean replacing the side panel next to the arm rest on your left with leather... I am not sure how to call it. Most leather interior cars have that whole side (except the hold in handle) with leather. Thats what im talking about.

Really? I found the plastics AND paint on my 2001 Mustang GT to be MUCH worse than in the SI.
