aren't there 4 holes, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom?
i remember screwing in the 4 bolts for the license plate holder on a generic one.

can you not switch them around?

hmm...
this monitor at work is pretty crappy so i cant see it that well
but from what i see, it does look removable, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't change the Si's license plate area from the sedans or coupes.
which do you have?
try taking plyers, grab them and turn. theres no way that those two top ones wont come off.

how did the dealer plate stay on then?

my lisence plate has been on with only 2 screws(the bottom ones) and I already try using stuff to take the top square looking things off but can't they seem to be with the body

And i have a Civic lx coupe.

then your bolts should be the same as mine.
then i am 100% positive that you can take those out, it would be stupid to have the bottom ones hold the plate instead of the top ones.

try plyers and do it like this

the bolt is the square thingy
and the plyers (will obviously be bigger) grab it like that, grab it tight and turn counter clock wise, other than that... i'm not sure man, it should just twist out without that much power.

It looks like they forgot to drill out the holes for the screw to go in. I would go tell the dealer you want it drilled out. That way any mistakes don't cost money:)

if you notice the two square things at the top have several lines that intersect in the middle...this is a punch out...if you just start screwing the screws into those, they give easily and have about 1.5" behind to easily accomodate different size screws. I'll give you props though on using the bottom ones...i just didn't want to screw through my AEM plate frame.
