FA5: 1 - Mountain Lion: - 0

I live in a somewhat remote area along a twisty, dark road. I was maybe half a mile from home when a HUGE CAT (I am 99% sure it was a Mountain Lion, Cougar, Puma, whatever you want to call in in your neck of the woods). I locked the brakes and tried to swerve but nailed it. What a shame. I only have 4300 miles on my baby and had JUST detailed her today. I'm sure the Cougar probably just got a huge promotion at work or something too... the luck of it all.

Damage done:
- Animal vomit streaking down the front of the bumper (no guts, no blood at least)

- Fog light cracked

- Bumper popped out underneath the headlight and where it meets the quarter panel on the driver's side. Pushed it back together and it "clicked" into place... still doesn't look quite right.

- Clips missing from underneath wheel well

There appears to be no apparent paint or body damage but I couldn't really do a quality inspection with a flashlight at 2:30AM.

Thank goodness for that $50 comp deductable! I want them to remove the front bumper and wheel well and check for any hidden damage. The foglight needs to be replaced as well.

I went back on the road after about 10 minutes of inspecting the car to see if I could find the big critter in case Animal Control needed to be notified, but it was nowhere in sight. I hope I didn't kill it!

Whew, what a night. Car damage aside, I love animals and feel awful that I have potentially injured or killed such a beautiful creature

I hosed off the bulk of the "goo" since I didn't want it to damage my paint. Maybe I should have said Mountain Lion: 1 FA5: 0...

aren't mountain lions like 50-90lbs? if you were scooting i would expect a lot more damage unless you only hit it's head

I did not hit it head on. It ran from the right side of the road directly in front of my path. I was going probably 40 MPH and likely much slower when I actually hit the thing since I nailed the brakes hard. I'm guessing I hit its backside and it bounced/glanced off of the bumper. I know for sure it didn't get under the wheels.

We have coyotes, deer, and other critters out here and I know for sure it wasn't a coyote (its fur was too short and glossy and it ran "like a cat" if that makes any sense... but it was WAY too big to be an ordinary housecat.
