I looked at this exact knob a week ago and almost picked one up. Would there be any possible harm done to the shifter parts having something this heavy "hanging" off the top of the shifter? Just a thought.

not a chance. your shifting assembly is made to take some pretty hard shifting, and the impact force from people banging out quick shifts is like 100 times greater than the force due to the weight of this knob.
