Horn Upgrade: Near Death

So about 2 weeks ago I bought an Accord horn from CHH for my 07 FG2. I LOVE that horn; it sounds much more respectable than the stock horn.

Here's the deal: The horn has worked great UNTIL today. I just got my car washed on my lunch break and now the horn sounds like it's one honk away from death. I'll have to take the front bumper off to see what's going on. I'm guessing some water got into it or something which can't be good. Has this happened to anyone else??

Did you install the horn with the opening facing downwards? Otherwise water can collect inside

^That's my guess. Water probably got in it.

Hmmm....to be honest I don't remember.... Knowing me I probably did put it upside down.

Let's say I did....can the horn be salvaged or did I kill it for good?

I had the same exact problem. Water collected inside and killed it.

Call college hills honda.

I called them and told them what happened, and i had a brand new horn on my doorstep two days later, free of charge. They take care of their customers very well!

I will be doing buisness with them again

Cool, thanks for the heads up Reality.

I'm guessing that I did put it in upside down...it sounds like something I would do. Now I just gotta wait until I get off work to confirm this.

::cough cough:: I don't think I'm feeling that well.... haha

yeah it does. it was a little weird at first because for almost two years i've heard the same tone when i lock/unlock my car and after i changed the horn it's a completely diff tone.

also....the tone of the horn sounds diff when it chirps when i lock/unlock the car vs when i press on the steering wheel. when it locks/unlocks the tone is very mellow; when i press the steering wheel the tone is much louder.

if you're thinking about getting one i would recommend it. just don't install it upside down haha

Vee Easy
yea, its different when locking/unlocking, and actually hitting the horn.

i guess the sound amplifies thru the shroud as it moves. i have both low and hi installed and it is crazy loud.

i faced the drivers side at 3oclock and the passenger side at 9oclock. gives off a louder honk

Will this upgrade blow the horn fuse or does it draw the same power?

I'm interested in doing this mod, and wondering if I'll need to do any additional wiring.

^ No additional wiring needed. It's a plug and play.

Even if you're using both high and low tones? If so, sweet!

I believe the high/low is plug and play for the Si.
Instructions for dx/lx/ex are at the top, si is below:
2006-2008 Honda Civic Exterior Accessories for Sedan
Si is hooked up for dual tones, dx/lx/ex are only single.

Oh that's sweet, and for only $23! Buying now... Invisible rep for you!

Edit: Technically the combo-pack is only for the 2008 Si, looks like they ran a second wire up front just for this purpose. I may just splice off the existing wire anyway and try that out.

I already bought the single horn but haven't installed it yet as it's been cold and snowy here in Idaho. But I've done plenty of research on it. Just make sure the cone is pointed down! I say that laughing at the op. jk
