What I learned about the HFP Aero Kit!!!!!!

Well, after suffering a decent size scrath on my rear bumper, I was learning towars getting the kit for me Si. I was ready and willing to get the kit. I got a great price for the kit installed from the local Honda Dealer. This mourning I was on the phone with the Parts Manager, asking how long will the kit arrive before I placed the order. After asking him a couple of questions, he informed me that the kit is NOT a replacement front or rear bumper. They are just pieces that are attached to the stock factory body on top. After hearing this I told him politely that I was under the impression that it was a full body kit, not just pieces of fiber glass or what ever, and that i was not interested anymore. The guy wasn't upset, which was cool of him.

Know Im not sure how manypeople, who dont have this kit, are aware that the kit is just add on pieces, not a full kit. But for the price that some people are paying and some dealers are quoting, this kit is seriously overpriced. Most aftermarket kits from top manufacturers, like from C-West, are complete body kits, which mean that they replace the factory bumpers completely, are higher quality and around the same price. I was disappointed to say the least. I gues my plans will change again unfortunately.

Just thought I should let you guys know.

They have always been lip kits. Honda/Acura would never offer a full body kit. And of course it will be expensive from the stealerships but there are many places online with some good deals also.

This is pretty common knowledge, alot of car companies have "lip kits" added to their higher end sport models. For example, the new lexus Is350 has a lip kit on their sport package and so does the rx-8. It wouldnt be profitable to create actual body kits right out of the factory, thats what the aftermarket is for. Also, the price for the lip kit is pretty standard and is in the same range as other companies kits.

C-West kits costing the same price as HFP kit? Not likely. Dont forget HFP kits come prepainted while with everything else your going to shell out more money to prep and paint it.

Plus I think the HFP kit is Urethane not Fiberglass. Unless your getting authentic JDM parts I wouldn't trust any Fiberglass body kit over here.

If you've seen one up close, just look at it from the right angle and you can see it clearly: it's just taped over top what you've already got.

I don't think I would want anything but the Honda kit...even if the price for a full body kit was less. Very few aftermarket body kits actually fit well! the always seem to need some kind of work to get them to fit.

Just my $.02

What were you thinking?

The HFP kit (as stated) is a lip kit, meaning an add on to, not a replacement for, your bumpers etc.

And it comes pre painted - none of the aftermarket places do that, they charge you extra.

Also, it is designed to fit perfectly on your car... not hacking and filing and filling to get it to fit.

And best of all, it's all warrantied!

It IS a full body kit. I covers the front, back and 2 sides....It's an "add on" option not a replacement for whats there already and for the price you can't beat it plus you can do the install yourself since there's no painting! Out of the 10 or so kits I've seen on the FG, the HFP and the Tourren are the only decent looking ones.
HFP Kit FTW

That was a little over the top, I'd say. Let's try to keep it polite and courteous in here.. we're all friends here.

for the record.. I have the HPF body kit on my LX and had the dealer install it when I bought the car. I love it.

I'm glad someone told him like it is. The noobery on this board seriously surprises me sometimes. Who the hell wants a full fiberglass body kit anyway? Do you watch a lot of fast n' furious? How did you not know that the "lip kit" was just a lip?
