How high/low do you put your shift knob?

Just received my skunk2 shift knob for my R18. I tried the nut, but it throws off the look entirely, so I decide to screw it all the way and see how low it goes. When I screwed all the way down, it was practically 2" above the trim, way too low I thought. I did like the feel of the lowered shift knob, but I wanted to see how you guys do it before I stuff something in to the knob to make it sit higher without the nut. How high/low do you guys place your knob?

I Just ordered a DC2 boots as stock one doesn't look right with the huge plastic trim at the top. I'll work on the knob again once I receive the boot.

I just installed the skunk2 shift knob on my R18 but didn't use the nut, the nut provided only went down a little. Is this okay?

Also, how does zip ties relate to holding the boot up to the knob? It doesn't make much sense to me. Right now I can pull my boot up and down but I would like it to stay in one place.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I like mine as low as it goes personaly, takes a bit more effort (less mechanical advantage) to put it into gear, but shorter throws

My numbers are aligned right already, do I still need the nut? Is there any other use for it besides that?

It just hangs out there. The boot keeps itself up to the knob and doesn't slide down or anything, it's nice. I was worried I was going to have to make something

Did you use the nut Kurt?
I just twisted mine all the way down without the nut and the diagram is aligned properly

I did the same. The nut that came with it didn't even fit.
