Poll to see who would be interested in these parts for the Civic sedan
I'm getting really frustrated with all the crap companies keep putting out. Spoilers that look like benches, front lips that look like snow plows, rear lips that look like they were made for a cavalier..
I'm mainly making this thread in hopes that we can convince someone like Grip tuning to produce a quality lip kit for the sedan. As it is now, all we really have is the incredibly boring kit HFP offers (lets face it, the side skirts look like 2x4s strapped to the side of the car and painted, the front lip is practically n othing and the rear lip has very few lines that look good). Grip tuning has made the comment on here about how they'd be more inclined to produce a sedan kit if the coupe kit sold better. Well, I think they made a mistake in making the coupe kit - it looks quite similiar to the HFP kit, which I would venture as far as to say the majority of coupe owners already have. So why switch? However, us sedan owners are very, very limited. We have the HFP lip kit (which I think a lot of us don't have), authentic mugen parts that run thousands of dollars, and that's basically it. So I think that if Grip tuning (or BE or any company, really) were to produce an aggressive, but good looking, kit (individual pieces would be best imo), it would be a killer in sales. This is really what I'm thinking: Front Lip: Here, I'm pretty undecided about what they'd do. I'm inclined to say the Mugen SI front lip, but a lot of people dont' really like it. it does have some kind of an odd look to it. I guess this would be up to them, but something aggressive looking like the Mugen SI front lip seems to have going. Side skirts - Just do what Mugen did.. or very close. They look VERY good: ![]() ![]() For the rear, once again, I'm proprose they rip off (or very closely resemble) the Mugen Si's rear bumper. Why mess with success? I think a lot of people want a low hanging bumper like that to offset the Mugen spoiler if they ever plan on getting one.. and it just looks incredible. Only downside is that it's $600+ to buy the real one, and a lot of us can't afford it. ![]() Hell, if they could forgo the dual exhaust outlets, I think the Mugen RR rear lip would look outstanding as well: ![]() So am I basically proposing a knockoff of a Mugen SI? Well, something similiar to that. It doesn't have to be exact, but the right idea is there. I just wish a company would get on the ball with this - I KNOW it would be a huge seller, no doubt about it. The demand is there, just no one is supplying it. Thoughts? |

I believe theres enough Aero Parts to cover the 8th gen. Sedan, if money wasn't the issue. If we're looking for cheaper parts, comes cheap qualities.
Designing and Prototyping new parts (Full Aero-Kit) would cost well over 20K, i'm not sure any company are willing to take the risk putting out new Aero products. Last edited by o-hatch; 12-05-2008 at 07:28 PM. |

I'm going to have to disagree.. look at all the replicas now? Mugen skirts.. $600. BE sells them for $240. Same idea, yeah? I just want them to start knocking of GOOD products instead of designing their own products that aren't as good as the real things.

I know where you coming from, same reason why GReddy (TRUST) file Chapter 11. But its the Companys like Mugen, Spoon, etc. that pave the Aero Dynamic Designs, Performances parts, etc. for the future. Without them, looks whats left for us?

Not much. However.. $600 for side skirts, $500 for a front lip, $1200 for a wing.. I can't take that, neither can most civic owners unless they want to spend a fairly sizable amount of their income on a spoiler.
