Whats this little slot?

Noob question, but what is this little slot for? My 09 didn't come with the little cover to cover up that space.

By the way this is not my car.

Acess to some sort of screw, in order to get under the shift boot??

IDK, I don't have a Civic, yet.

It's a Park release for automatics (so you can move your car in case it won't start). There's no reason your 09 shouldn't have come with it, since the console comes from the supplier with it. Take it back to the dealer and have them put one in.

wait im a bit confused, if its for automatics why do the si's have it? or do we just have empty slots with a cover over it??

^ Yup, it's empty underneath on manuals. The centre console lid (don't know the right name) is a universal part number for all Civics. No sense in keeping two part numbers just for that little hole.

No, it's not to get under the shift boot. You don't need to take that piece out to switch the boot (I assume that's what you mean).

Actually, I had a look today at the little goody bag in the car when the dealer gets it and it had the little slot cover in it. So I think I was wrong... I think the dealer is supposed to install it. So yeah, they're either forgetting, or collecting them for some reason...

but for a manual there isnt much use for it.
