This happens a lot with motorcycles, so I have some experience.
You can do two things. The first is nothing and just let it burn off, which may take some time. The second is to use spray oven cleaner, the nasty kind that you don't want to get on your skin. If you opt for the oven cleaner, be really careful you don't spray it on anything else other than the exhaust because it's very corrosive. It will very effectively remove that burnt plastic, however. Someone else also stated that a paint scraper with the car running could work... just don't touch the exhaust. what I found on another forum... Try the oven cleaner... gonna have the smell for a while it seems. |

it too late for pic now all you see is a big old burn spot not technically on the exhaust but on the pipe next to the exhaust. So basically you can only see it when you get down and look at it. Then again the smell has been there for 2days now.

that happened to my exhaust i bought it used and it has a big plastic thing on it! i got boiling hot water (like 3 big ass bowls of it
) and poured it on slowly when it got hot enough i just used a scraper and it came off in 5 minutes. ur option could be to turn your car on leave it on for a few and wait till it gets hot enough to scrape the plastic off after you jack up the car. |
