Does anyone else have no Paint under trunk and in trunk jams?
I just purchased a 2007 SI sedan and I was detailing it and found out that the underside of the trunk and the jams of the trunk have hardly any paint on them. Is this normal for a newer civic? I have owned several other Hondas in the past and all of them have had paint covering all visible metal surfaces.

The problem is it's the whole underside of the trunk and Jams. I would understand in between the door jams because the door can block the jam. But the trunk is completely out of the way of the jams. If it is normal then I guess I can't complain.

I don't have it painted.
I looked at one in the dealership last week or so and it was definitely painted. It looks really bad on mine being unpainted, and when I went to trade it in, one of the people inspecting asked if I had it repainted because some parts weren't covered. I politely told him that 'his people did the painting, he should know'. |

If the whole underside of your trunk isn't painted then that is a problem because the whole underside of my trunk is painted expect for small crevices (sp). Your door jambs aren't painted? That MUST be painted. Take some pics to help us out.

Agreed. Mine is painted, just not with the same gloss under the trunk lid. The door jams, however, are just like the outside of the car. I would question this with your dealer. Simply ask to see another car to prove your point.

Update:
I went to my local dealer and most of the cars on the lot are this way. He said that most people don't notice this so it isn't really a problem. I guess I am amazed at the fact that this isn't painted and cleared. If you pull up your carpet they do it there, why not in an area that you can see? I guess I am overreacting but just wanted to get some input from the forums. I will take some pics and post them up. Matt |

Um, I wonder if this is only on that particular model. I just went out to look at my ex, and it appears painted, just not clearcoated, and you can still see the welds through it. Id take it to be painted asap.
