Do our coat hooks really suck this much?

So, I was moving from my old place to my new place and had a couple of suits that I didn't want to get messed up on the move, so I hung one from one coat hook and one on the other. Now my coat hooks are permanently down and will not retract back up. They just dangle there and fly all over the place. It's driving me insane. Can these coat hooks not handle the weight of this or something?

my coat hangers still work. I ussually hang like 3 shirts off of each one or 3 pants off of each one and they are still good.

Hmm that's what I figured would be normal.. My suits aren't overly heavy or anything. Do they automatically pull back up once you're done using them? I was trying to see if I could at least manually get them to stay up, but that wasn't working.

Correct. I use them all the time to pick up my clothes and have no issue. It could be broken, but it is a simple part and should be able to be corrected easily.

in the coupe the coat hangers are useless. your shirts get wrinkled anyway cuz the seat is like 4 inches below the hanger.

Mine have been broken since about 5k miles. I just keep forgetting to mention it when I get the oil changed...

I think heat had something to do with it, whether or not I had something hanging on it in the heat or what, but neither will go up anymore...

i know how you feel. mine broke just from the tension from the spring, and you have to replace the entire panel. both of mine have broken so far, the left one has twice.
all in all, they suck

:-DIf your car is within warranty (and even sometimes if not), the dealer should hook you up. :-D
As for me and hanging clothes...I just hang them on the backs of the front headrest posts, so that they clothes hang down to the rear floor. That way, my visibility isn't affected as much compared to hanging them from the actual hooks.

Hanging them from the rear bench seats' headrest pillars may also work.
