Very pissed off about my tint

I just worked my azz off the past 2 weeks for a lowzy $200.00 3m 35% dark tint. It has bubbles on almost every damn window on my car. I went back to the stupid installer and he told me to come back on tuesday, i mean wtf? Why cant it be right, this guy is supposed to be the best damn tinter in the city. Wtf?

I am so pissed off right now and if it doesnt clear he's gonna take it off, and give me my money back.

WHAT?! 30 days?!

i had my windows tinted in my garage (guy came to my house) and the only thing i had to do was wait 24 hours before i could roll down the windows. They didnt bubble/haze or anything. they looked perfect from the minuite he installed it

lol the 30 days is not true. 1-2 days is the only thing i've ever heard after tinting

NOt to thread jack but
Does every tint turn slightly purple especially in the rear window?
I had mine for 2 years but I live in Florida and my car constantly gets sun

So is it normal?

purple means the tint is fading. its like when you see the older cars with purple tint, its not that way, its old tint and has faded.

Depends on the bubble.

A silver/white bubble is air. It won't go away.

A silver/white spec (like pin head, or group of pin heads) is dirt/dust. A small amount, especially around the edges, is normal.

A lumpy distorted bubble that gives a fish eye look is trapped water. It will go away. Depending on how hard/well a tinter squeegees depends on how much water is left behind. I personally squeegee very hard to prevent water bubbles. It can take up to 30 days especially if the car is garaged. It can take even longer in the winter. I once left a quarter sized water bubble in my full metal tint (which dries slower) on my own car. It was there from October to April!!!!

Do you have pictures of these bubbles? If it gives the fish eye look it will go away. If you have bubbles "everywhere" and on all the windows chances are the window tinter is just a limp wrister and doesn't squeegee hard.

When you pay $99 that will happen.

A quality film will last longer and if it doesn't it has a manufacturer's backed lifetime warranty covering color change/fading.

usually with tint you have to give it some time for the chemicals to dissolve and the bubbles will go away. nothing to really worry about. post some pictures of your tint so we can see what your talking about because it can ether be that or just a bad tint job

true about the price but its only when u look at it close up and the sun hits it.

Just the rear window not the side ones.

You cant tell a foot away that it has a purple hint to it just when ur really close to it

but if its good tint it will still turn purple right?
if so in how many years or it depends on the sun?

Kinda sorta, depends on the construction of the film.

If it's fading and turning purple chances are the UV absorbers are shot and gone. Cheap films contain few UV absorbers and usually only place them in the glue (instead of in the film too which makes it last longer).

If it's a strictly dyed film the heat rejection is a function of it's darkness. If the film gets lighter then less heat rejection. If the film contains metal or carbon the heat rejection will stay for the most part even if the color changes.

Moisture bubbles is nothing new, when i got tinted i had several bubbles on the windshield banner and passenger windows. It went away about 6days into it, this was done in the summer.

The rear window is semi-horizontal and gets sun more often. It's always the first to fail.

Good tint should outlast the ownership of your vehicle. If it doesn't the good tint will have a warranty covering color change. Things like ceramics or pigmented films will outlast dyed products by a long time.

It's normal if you paid $99. If you had paid for a quality product this is premature film failure.

The starter of this thread got 3M Color Stable 35%. It's a "nano-carbon" impregnated film that has a nationwide lifetime warranty covering color change. Sure, he paid $200 (which is actually a really good price for 3M CS), but if it ever turns purple he gets it replaced for free. In two years he won't be asking people why his rear window is starting to turn purple.

Well So its been 4 days since last Thursday when I got it on. I emailed the guy on Myspace and he said something happened to his water filter or something, a car with the same case as mine came back and he will fix it. He said it never happens so he said dont worry. So im going in tomorrow to fix it. Im just worried about the back tint, I hope he knows how to fix it.

Good luck, my friend. If he knows what he's doing, you should be fine.
