Angry Just venting on style...

Let me first state that I have owned several cars over the last 3 years (02 WRX, 06 STI, 08 Sky Redline - all owned, not just driven) and I like my 08 Si the best when it comes to driving fun. However, I was/am very turned off when I see the styling that people choose for Civics. Understand, this is just my venting -I am not asking you to change your car or jump in a lake. BUT.....

Seriously, why do people do the red emblems? I understand it is the overseas version, but you seriously pay $30-90 for the color red? If ours were red, you'd want to do the clear/black/chrome version in a heartbeat. The red looks out of place and pretty lame (I compare it to the pink STI stuff).

Clearing out everything on your car - some is good, most looks cheap. I understand the rear lights on the coupe (I took those lame amber bulbs out), but clearing the front makes it look like you bought cheap light off of ebay. Why would you want to try to make your car look more plastic?

Blacking out everything - honestly, that was a style craze in the early 90s. People paid hundreds for black out covers. The 90s are over. Yes, taillights can be tinted, but lets not take every piece of chrome or plastic and turn it black. Once again - looks like you are trying to make it cheap.

Ripping out your stereo and putting a bunch of crap with wiring everywhere. Stereos can be cool, but they look like ass on these cars. You rip out the dash to put in a stereo that barely fits. It goes from clean to ghetto in about 2 seconds.

Removing all badges- weak. People know what you have. Taking off the CIVIC logo might be OK, but taking it all off looks like you had a wreck and repainted it. Take the badges off if you own a Tercell.

*And thank god the "massive stickers" craze is over!

That's just my rant. Flame if you like. I know I will get the "each person has their own opinion.." replies, and that is fine. I just wanted to get it off my chest. Keep in mind - I own a Civic, so this isn't a flame on the model. I am just verballizing what made me avoid Civics for all these years. Stupid me for waiting. . .

I agree on most things with you, so your not alone. Also you only have 3 posts so kind of expect to be flamed!

Oh, I know. Everyone figures because you have 3 posts that somehow you don't know about cars. I have 3 posts because I just bought the car. Kinda pointless to be on a Civic site if you have an STI or something. It's the internet, so people love to troll posts and flame them because it doesn't 100% fit their view on things. I just wanted to put my opinion down and see if I was flying solo. . .

i think it looks pretty clean/stock?

doesn't look rice to me.

i dont really understand the whole red badges are nonsense mentality. maybe you just can justify spending 90 dollars on emblems.

for the most part you seem to dislike ricers. which is understandable, but most of here go for the clean/stock look.

I agree on almost all of your points (and I mus be leet for my post count for having been on here for years! woot!)

1) Red H badges are ninja rice. It's subtlely telling people you have a Type R when you don't.
2) Blacked out isn't rice per say, but it's often overdone. Very light tint looks nice, blacking out looks very 90s.
3) Cleared corners can look okay, but only if it's partially cleared imo. Partially cleared corners look like the OEM Civic Hybrid headlamps.

I agree for the most part with what you said, the JDM badges are overly priced, but I do like the look of the cleared headlights. If it had angel eyes crap like that in there then sure it would look like cheap eBay headlights, but the cleared corners just make the car look sharp IMO.

that's just silly.

i understand it's your opinion, but, no one takes a quick glimpse of my red badge and goes, "OMG, is that a type r i see off in the distance?! oh, wait, it's an lx.

i took my civic and si emblem off only because i didn't want some kid ripping off. i want to get the H in the back off too. im not, because i think its going to cost a lot. i never thought of it as if you were in a wreck or got it repainted. whats wrong if you did?

I agree with most of stuff that he said except for some.
1. Ya blacked out stuff is played out but what ever floats your boat.
2. Im on same page with u with the JDM badges, I dont think they are rice but Im not gonna pay $90 for 2 badges and then some jerk will rip them off.
3. About the debadging it makes your car look clean and prevents from jerks stealing your emblems and messing up your paint!

To sum it up It's your ride you do what you want to it as long you like it

^Drfters13 you can take the back H out its easy you just have to fill in those 2 little holes its not like you have VW that you have to fill in the whole badge in if you know what I mean...

people doesnt need to justify what they've done to their cars. they do it because they like it. you hate it then thats your thing, but IMO if your going to throw out an argumentative opinion then your going to get an argumentative answer.

No, I see a red H from a distance and think "oh look it's a non-Type R pretending to be a Type-R." Why would I think it's a Type R when there are ZERO Civic Type Rs in the states?
