Front License Plate Solution!

Like many of you,I live in a state where a front license plate is required. A little history. I'm a 52 year old Finance Manager at a Honda dealership, and I love my new GG EX Coupe. I discovered an awesome quick fix for lowering the front plate so it doesn't sit on the bumper but sits below it! It looks mucho better. Screwdriver and Dremel tool or something to cut plastic is all that's required.

1. Take front plate and bracket off. Unless your dealership's service department is run by morons,it's NOT drilled in place.

2. Keep the bracket holes lined up (the screws are out) rotate that puppy 180...see how good it looks?

3. It won't sit "flush" so here's where a little trimming comes in.

4. Cut off about an inch of the black plastic bracket until it sits flush with the LOWER part of the bumper, put your bracket and plates back on! Lookin' good.

the only thing is that theres a semi deep scratch from one of the screws when it was in its old position from when i took it to the dealer to get serviced! that and my rear bumper got raped by them all in half an hour... my dealer sucks!

Did your front bumper have a hole in it from the stealership drilling in it? for the front plate? i like the idea about that becasue i live in a state that requires a front plate (Colorado) but screw the plate. I took mine off, i just hope i dont get pulled over. Plus the front of the car without the front licence plate looks awesome!

Yup it's state law along with seat belts, license, and insurance.

You're required to have a front license plate, but some people get away with it.

The front plate is also required here in CT.
Took my front plate/bracket off of my coupe too.
Bumper was not drilled, thankfully.
Have the plate and bracket in the trunk.

I like how it looks without the front plate, and how, I imagine, more air flows into that large opening at the front of the car without the plate in the way...

I did this mod too. Looks soooo much nicer. Ill try to get some pics of where you have to cut on the bracket to get it to fit correctly.

well there is another way. u can just take the huge hunk of plastic off. because where the plate holder was, there are 2 screws down there. by just drilling wider holes on your plate, and getting about 2-3 inch screws at your hardware store u get this.

I have not run a front plate in 13 years, and only received one $22.00 ticket. Besides the police are trained to aim their LASER speed detection equipment on your front plate (flat reflective surface)... Another reason to not use a front tag!
