Those that have upgraded to the si grill

I have a curious question for those with a 4 door that have upgraded to the si grill and base. I was wondering for those that also got the base, what color was the base? All the ones I have seen on the lot are a grey color on bottom portion of the base itself. The reason I ask is that the one I got was not grey but black and looks like it needs to be painted. Just wondering if I got an actual honda grill or some aftermarket grill, even thou I got it from collegehills honda.

well just to be clear it is a very dark flat grey
i wouldn't call it black but in the right light it is close to that end of the spectrum.

Maybe you're a little colour blind? who knows. Is the finish flat and a bit rough? (as in not totally smooth, like the rest of the car's paint is)

post a good pic if posssible. If you got it from collegehillshonda the ****e is real man.

no I am not color blind, at least I don't think so LOL. The base is totally smooth and completely black like a gel coat you would see on fiberglass bumpers. I think its not genuine honda. I went out to a dealership and looked at an si and its base is totally different then the one collegehills sent me.

Yep, that's us. We totally sell only aftermarket Si grilles now! Seriously, has the thought ever crossed that if this is indeed the case that Honda may have mispackaged the item, the item was shipped flawed or incomplete from the manufacturer, etc? It wouldn't be the first time that is for sure. I don't believe aftermarket accusations are warranted here at all.

not saying it was aftermarket was wondering if it could be, ordered another one from another dealership and it was grey not black. don't like being told yea they come like that after I specificaly asked you. Think about what I asked when I came in and what was told to me. Thats what pisses me off the most.

 They come how they have always come until now apparently. Gray, charcoal, black, dark black, dark gray, classy gray, bumper black, smooth black, gun metal, etc. You can call the color whatever but from past experience the grille has only come one way and one way only so in reality they should be the same no matter how it is described. The problem is the company that manufactures the part for Honda forgot to pick up the frickin paint gun on the assembly line. Look what I found after opening a few boxes in inventory.

If you wish to be pissed that is fine however if you wish to pursue an argument on how I misunderstood your description of the item based on my past knowledge of the product and how hundreds of these have been shipped out without issue in the past, an argument will not be granted. Rather, an apology for not understanding your description of the unfinished item is being given instead. Should you wish to discuss this issue further that is fine. I have a phone number. 1-888-244-6632 x207.

From what it looks like we will have to hand inspect every one of these until Honda weeds out the defective/unfinished grille bases. If anyone else happened to received a non "gun metallic" finish grille base please let us know.

CASE CLOSED

I will say for the record that Paul at collegehills honda took care of the problem for me even thou I modified the grille by cutting of the si emblem mount. The dealership and staff that work there are A great bunch of people to deal with. It was just a misunderstanding of how I worded my question to him at the dealership and how he understood what I was asking. Apparently they have quite a few grilles there that are unpainted and are a defect from honda themselves. None the less the situation has been taken care of and that dealership is top notch as far as I am concerned. Thanks again to Paul Pacek for all he has done to make my purchase with them a pleasureable one.

Thank you for addressing this Paul. When in doubt, just call them or shoot them a pm. They aren't out to mislead customers.
